    Hi Guys,

I have heard a lot about this word "pinging a site", what exactly does this means? And how pinging the site can increase traffic on our site? I have pinged my two sites by using one online tool but haven't seen any difference till now. Please clear me on this.

    Thanks in advance:)

Also, Ping is both a noun and a verb, such as "Please Ping that computer" and "The router didn't return a single ping!"

IMO, pinging is mainly used for getting backlinks not traffic. You might get traffic afterwards as you have a lot of backlinks. Pinging your site just once won't have much effect.

you want to ping your site often if you are adding content daily. this way the search engines know there is new content and will update their engines.
