Which Browsers Do You Have Installed (To Check for Compatability)

Simple question how do you check your sites compatability across multiple browsers, do you install all the browsers you are bothered about?

So what browsers do you have installed, or any tools you use?

    I have:
    Internet Explorer 7
    Mozilla Firefox 3
    Opera
    and a PS3 Browser.

I also sometimes go into the Apple shop to see how it looks on Safari and IPhone :)

I'm considering installing Lynx so I can see what Google is seeing, does anybody else do this?

IE6, IE7, Firefox, Opera and Safari. If I use extensive JS I shall also test on Chrome, and Konqueror if I happen to be on Linux.

Instead of installing a bunch of browsers, why not just use one of the online checking tools?

Here is the one I use:
    http://browsershots.org/

Because its impossibly slow. I change my code up to 30 times a minute, and to preview it in the few necessary browsers, its as easy as Alt+Tabbing and pressing F5.

Browsershots also gives you a tonne of unnecessary stuff such as OS.

Its like testing in Firefox and Flock, or IE and Avant - they are the same browsers!

Right, add a BETA program made by MICROSOFT to my list.

I remember there was a free piece of software that automatically checked the compatibility of your webpage on all major web browsers.
It may have been an opera or firefox add on, check there.

I currently have all the major browsers installed.

    Opera
    Flock
    Firefox
    IE 7/ IE 8 Beta 2
    Chrome
    Safari

OK thanks, so how do you go about checking IE 6 when I have IE 7 installed, i'm not too bothered about IE 6 to be honest, I just want to make sure everything isn't all over the place, apart from that if people can't be bothered to get the new IE they can have incompatible sites :)

IE6 is still very important since a lot of public places (schools etc) use it, and most people don't know how to upgrade, or are using an old OS.

You can test it on "IETester" an application that lets you test in IE5.5, IE6, IE7 and IE8 Beta 2.

    This is what I do..

    I have this installed:

    Opera 9.6
    FireFox 3
    IE7
    Google Chrome 0.2

And I just test IE6 on browsershots.org. If you are just testing ONE site, it wont take long..Usually it works for me in 5 minutes..If your code adheres to standards (like xHTML/CSS and properly validated), and your site renders perfectly on the 4 browsers I listed, it is 99.9999% likely that your browser will render properly on IE6 and any other browser..My coding works not only on web browsers, but also on mobile bowsers..The trick? xHTML and CSS validation..That's all.. :)

    Cheers~
