I often get asked about how to estimate the number of visitors coming from Google Product Search. If you have an advanced PHP-based stats system (anything that uses $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']) this won't be a problem for you. However, if you use Google Analytics or any other "freebie" stats program, you won't know how many visitors you get from Product Search. However, there is a way round it. If you're using Google Webmaster tools, you can at least estimate how much you get from Froogle. 1. Go to your Webmaster Dashboard 2. Click the site in question 3. Click "Top search queries »" near the top of the page 4. Make sure "Search Type: All Searches" and "Location: All Locations" drop-downs are selected. Locate "Download All Query Stats" (circled on the pic in the attachment) and click it 5. Save the file and open it with Excel 6. Sort the column C (Search Type) alphabetically and locate the cells where it says "Product Search" You will find the keywords you have had rankings in Product Search for and an approximate number of clicks for each keyword. I am trying another hack to get the results displayed in Google Analytics. I'll give you the buzz if it is successful.
Read the original post. It says "estimate". Estimation means approximate calculation. I didn't say it was 100% accurate, I said it was an estimation to give you an approximate idea of what is popular and what is not! And how does that tell you the keywords?
