Do advertisers often terminate their affiliation with you?

I am just wondering. It seems like the moment I begin to enjoy an advertiser - boom! I get an email. Just the latest mishap. I placed Vivastreet UK ads on my site a week ago. I started seeing leads being generated right away. Yesterday, I saw that 80% of the leads were reversed due to poor lead quality.

I would have been happy with the 20% of the good leads, why on earth do you terminate your affiliation with me??

Anyway, I emailed both Vivastreet and CJ. Maybe they won't terminate it after all. I still have a few days. We'll see.

Hmm, I just find the whole idea of CPA very suspect. It's so easy for an advertiser just to claim the traffic is low quality, whatever that means, or that a lead did not perform the action, and how are you supposed to know...?

 

I have just stopped all leads, I got a disturbing set of reversals and a termination to follow, So I say totally not worth it.
Pay per lead has such a high "invalid lead" rate I am sticking with straight sales. I am creating a new website with a good niche. I know that I won't see sales for a bit, but well worth the wait if it ends up to be good.

 

Can you sum up what was in the CJ's email?


BTW I did receive responses from both Vivastreet and CJ. CJ said that they can't change the advertisers mind. Vivastreet said they only want leads from UK. I am still trying to negotiate with them. We'll see what will happen.

 

I never promoted lead offers since most of them are easily to be reversed. However, we should look as advertisers perspective either. There are many affiliates out there trying to game with leads offer so they have to vigilance by check every leads they have got.

 

The key is to mix in some quality, targeted traffic with whatever low-quality traffic it is that you're sending. Sometimes it's worth it to spend just a little bit on PPC to keep your account active and keep getting paid for the other leads you generate.

 

Actually, the key is to send the type of quality traffic that the advertiser is looking for.

 

jodyq you were one of the very few people on this forum that I trusted. I was waiting for your reply about what CJ said in their email to you about the disadvantages of advetising the advertisers who offer lead based payouts, just to find out you edited your post. Why?

I didn't mean to change my post. LOL I will restate my question, post. I received a shocking letter from cj.
CJ asked why the leads were reversed??? Like I was supposed to know. I advised them to ask the merchant and told them good luck as they never responded to me. I see now that the merchant has been deactivated and reactivated, I just went through a surgery so I am a little out of it!

 

Usually it happens if I sign-up for a program but don't put the links up soon enough. Their loss though

 

This can be so unfair. If a British millionaire happens to be on a business trip in China, opens his laptop, does a Google search, finds your website, and clicks on your CJ affiliate link. Is the click invalid and of poor quality because it comes from China?

 

You don't get paid for clicks, so no, it's not invalid or poor quality.

 

I agree. The thing is Vivastreet, in my case, has a system where they have to reverse poor quality leads manually. So they are more willing to terminate an affiliation because of that.

Gumtree (another classifieds site from England I use) simply gives you the right leads and you never know which leads had poor quality because the reversal is done automatically. Well, Gumtree is run by Ebay and their system is more sophisticated.

Vivastreet said to me in their response that they will give me a week to see if my stats change. It looks like I will stay with them. Which is great. They pay $1.67 per lead. Not bad.

The only advertiser that never responded to me was Screensavers.com but... they ALWAY paid on time. But they are out of CJ. I don't think they will be back.

 

Spoken like a true advertiser. Why get paid on 100 leads when you could get paid on 500?

 

as far as i know cj affiliates are better if they get paid by leads generated by you , not just simply entering some info like filling forms on thier sites .... they simply say poor quality leads...it happend to me as well..now i am doing straight sales .Best of Luck
