    Hi all

I run an e-commerce website specialising in designer fashion. I desperately need help increasing conversion rate - I get the visits but NOT the sales.

If you can help, PM me for the URL.

    thank you

Check whether you're getting targeted visitors? Add testimonials and references, 'Trust Seal' on your web site, offer contest/coupon, this will help you in sales conversion.

all visitors are extremely targeted which is one of the reasons i am stumped. thanks for the advice, i too have considered testimonials but i'm not sure if they're a bit cheesy on a designer clothing website ?

just to provide more information, unique visitors per day stands at around 300 and conversion rate is less than 1% (though occasionally shoots to almost 4%, which is just weird and frustrating)

The average conversion rate online is only around 2.5%. Sure there are sites with much rates around 10%. But times are tough right now, especially for eccommerce. People are holding onto their money and being much more frugal. Once the economy starts heading north again I am sure your conversion rates will naturally begin to boost, just hang in there.

thanks :) the current climate seems to be having a huge impact on retail in general but competitor sites like asos.com are reporting stable and even increases in sales, which goes against the grain entirely.

I see they have a 50% off sale going on that takes up 1/2 of the home page. That is very eye catching an enticing, have you tried something similar? Even if you can't really lower the prices, just adjusting the regular prices and saying they are on sale will make people buy them more often than not.

Are many of your visitors coming in from a search? If so, that could be a factor, since not that many who do come in through a search buys anything.

They are window shoppers, tire kickers, bored surfers...

You should post your url, if you want as much help as you can get.

Getting converting sales copy is all about testing. Even professional copy writers test over and over again to find the highest conversion rate. A conversion rate is based on three different elements. The sales copy, the product or offer and how targeted and pre-sold the traffic is. You always improve the offer and the quality of the traffic, people forget about these two elements, too much of the time.

thanks very much for your replies, you've mentioned somethings that i'm not aware of (like searchers not actually been ready to buy). to nathan johnson, i've been working on sprucing up my copy a lot. usually i give minimal description and let the picture do the talking but i realise that pursuasive copy can just sway that sale.

    any more tips appreciated! :)
