One of my friend received an "eCheck Payment" from the customer, and paypal send an email as followed: This eCheck Payment will remain "Uncleared" until the funds have cleared from the sender's account, which usually takes 4 business days. If you are shipping an item, please do not ship your item until the funds have cleared into your PayPal account. You will be notified by email when the funds have cleared into your PayPal balance. I know that we should hold the order and ship it until the payment cleared, but i just want to know if ship before it is cleared, what will happen? is it possible that the customer withdraw the money back? or something else? Thanks for any advice.
yes, i already got one from one of my ebay buyers it takes only a few days before paypal adds it on your paypal account
Don't ship until cleared and you have nothing to worry about. Make sure your buyer knows that you wont ship until it clears as well. We've taken several hundred echecks through paypal in the past year and have not had a single one not clear.
echecks are the best way to scam sellers since it can take 8 to 12 days to get it cleared... so never send the product untill the check get cleared or else the buyer will cancel the echeck or they dont have any money on there bank... so always wait till the money is credited to your account by paypal...
OK! thanks very much to all, so i will tell my friend do not ship the order until it is cleared, thanks again for helping me. Best regards!
Just to add, there is nothing stopping the customer to raising a dispute to claim that you did not deliver. So to protect yourself, ensure that you use a shipping method which has online tracking (best if it comes with real time tracking). Use Paypal shipping documents with the package.
Paypal assures you that they will clear, I only had 1 in my lifetime not clear because they cancelled the transaction at the last day before the e-check was suppose to clear.
I have now 4 Paypal echecks that have failed to clear. All for eBay purchases. The first I sent off the goods leaving me $35 out of pocket. Paypal send email notification when cheques clear but not when they fail. It is up to you check your account to see if they failed. From my experience echecks are as secure as paper checks.
Hi the echeck payments are safe when you get it from reputed customer but not safe if you get it from unknown because echecks may not clear or can be reversal by the sender side.if you contact the paypal no use.but what a sad thing is one time regular payment also reversed by the sender's bank without prior notice.
