i have wordpress blog but if i do link exchange with other blog then where i should show the link on my blog?i don't want to post links along sidebar because it looks dirty and i will get less traffic from google,it will divert users attention because of that the page will load slowly .any ideas about where to show the links on my blog.
in the major blogs i don't find links in footer or in special designed page.we will find only few links in the blogroll.but they have large amount of backlinks.how is it possible?

Instead of wasting time with link exchanges, why don't you link to relevant blogs from within your posts? Other bloggers will notice you linking out, and you will find that many will return the favor sooner or later.
It depends on you and the way you blog. And I personally see nothing wrong with a few links on the sidebar.
If you are writing quality content and linking out to generate conversations, then yes. If you are simply regurgitating content and only linking out in an attempt to get attention, then no.
Actually it's wrong to think in such a way. Ask yourself the same question, do you think the person with whom you exchange the links would consider your url messing up their page as well? If you want to avoid putting links on your site and losing visitors, then forget about exchanges in order to work on natural one way link baiting.
