Social Media the name shows that you have work socially. In SMO you have to create your profile and your own group if you are working in social networking sites like facebook and you should create strong impression and large friend network without let them know that you are here for commercial purpose. next method is social Bookmarking here you also have personal profile but here you will place link which you like most and you can share this in your friend network same as social network. you can Bookmark any link in your personal page. One thing that was not mentioned in regards to social networking is the fact when you have built up a strong user profile on the social networks, more people are prone to vote your stories up thus pushing them to the front page. You will have followers, people who see what you are reading about. They in return will read what you read and vote on it if the like it. Other people who follow you will simply vote on the story just because you did, at times they do not even read the story. They just voted on it because you have a strong profile and they are following what you do.

I look at it like.. SEO is apart of SEM because SEM is about marketing your website within search engines and SEO is just a longer process than PPC advertising within search engines.. SMO.. can still be utilized as a tool to build your search engine optimization link building campaign.. many times you can set the title you want or anchor text and things like that which all matter on search engines so you can utilize these things to get a quality link back to your website.. but mostly with SMO its about the traffic and generating traffic to your website and building awareness of your website online..
