2 Ranks up in 3 weeks

Although my site is quite old, but i never put any real content until i updated the site with some content and did some basic SEO. and in a result, far from my expectations, the PR converted from 0/10 to 1/10 in 2nd week and afterwards in the 3rd week it was 2/10. What I found really interesting was, there were no significant number of pageviews but only the content/keywords and also backlinks did the work.
PR was not influenced by the number of visits to my site. so thats something!!!

    any comments!!!
ohh btw the site is in my first signature i.e. getonebyone

Where did you get the backlinks from? I'm just curious if they were bought, reciprocal, or one way. Thanks.

PR doesn't change every week. Google export it 3-4 times / year.
So what you're saying here is pretty much impossible.

thats what i thought initially, but understand that what googles' bot used to do....Bots are active and index every new page in quick successions. so, whenever the bot gets NEW information it will bring it back to its server and the server will obviously gets upadted....(so, now WHEN the server explicitly change the PR of the page is unknown)

there could also be alot of hidden factors on which google updates the SERPs but I havnt found any "official" statement.

previously it used to be twice a year or so but maybe their rules have changed!!

if someone know exactly when and how PR changes than please clear the confusion..

    thanks.

I too have seen my PR change at strange times. When I checked on Friday one of my pages was a 0 and today it was a 1. I have seen this before as well and no "Google PR Updates" have been done so is it a problem with the toolbar or is there more to the updates than just a few times a year?

I never thought pr was influenced by visitors anyway. It's more to do with backlinks and content.

It's definitely just backlinks and content...

You may have gotten the PR from different datacenters... they're usually pretty close, but can sometimes vary with your site's PR. There's sites that will check your site's PR from multiple datacenters and you'll see that they will vary slightly.
