Affiliate programs are good! at present i am doing forum posting and writing services and planing to start a site.
Something which can be easily scaled with little efforts. So affiliate marketing would be easier than services like dir submissions.
It depends on what do you want to do, I personally like adsence but some other people like referal programs, you need to give it a try and see what you like the most, there are a lot of threads in the forum about this look around I am pretty sure you will find something to give you a better idea.

Too many variables. It depends on your skills, what you like doing, how long-term you're looking, how fast you want to get paid, what niches you have assets in etc. etc. etc.
my opinion would be, the way must be less or no competitive i have seen many people make lots of money via affiliate marketing. I am also looking the possible ways to get into Affiliate marketing.
I think the best way is one that you really like doing. Of course, I don't think that's the answer you're looking for, but it's the one I'm giving!
That's a good point but bigger competitions sometimes can be better. For example i take "internet marketing" as it's one of the most saturated niche. Create a product let's say an ebook on let's say "3 simple ways to make more money with your website without extra traffic and subscribers". Build a decent website/sales page. You start with 0 traffic and subscribers right? So how do you promote you ebook? Simple, google your competition! Contact them and make a proposal to promote your ebook to their subscribers. Don't forget to provide an affiliate program. Give 60%-70% commission to your JV partners. They have a list of subscribers who trusted them and some of them will be yours if they buy from you. That's just an example. Just remember there is no "holy-grail" in making money online. Just do what you do best and practice the "supply and demand rule". Sell what people want to buy and DP is a good start. Go to Business > Services folder and you'll see what i mean.
You can create your own blog and earn money via adsense, affiliate program, selling products, or providing services. Your income will grow once you are getting more and more visitors to your site from search engines, though it may take some time.
