is it only me or is Vista that much harder to learn...

As a small busniess owner and being used to the old Windows, im finding myself frustrated on Vista Word and Publisher when trying to create simple documents and postcards. Is there any tools, tutorials or methods to pick up the Vista quarks quicker?

What are the specific problems you're having? Is it issues directly related with Vista or problems with the new versions of Office 2007 products. They have a very different layout from previous versions of Office so perhaps your issue is not so much with Vista but more with that. Give as much details as you can so that people can try to help you

There's no such thing as Vista Word dude. It's Office 2007 that's different. IMHO, Vista is nice, and works better than people give it credit for. As for Office 2007, it takes some time to learn, but it has many advantages over the older version. Just take some time to get used to it.

As said before, Vista does not come with a "word" or "publisher" application. Perhaps you're thinking of Microsoft Office?

As it sits, Vista is not "that much harder to learn", it's actually quite straight forward and simplistic to learn, too much so.

Zander22: Personally I think Vista is much harder than XP. I don't want to change my XP. I read it that many computer buyers in Holland switched to XP from Vista.

Today is one of the first days I am using it...its not great, but with Microsoft I never expect it to be...the thing that bothers me most is the companies designing the keyboard layouts decide to do odd things with them and it is frustrating to use. I use a mac for myself, and based on this experience, I would never go back to windows.

Vista is very different from XP. Remember, Vista is still in beta mode. From XP to vista is sorta like transitioning from Windows 3.1 to Windows 2000

I don't think that Vista is much different then xp except being a resource hog, and in my experience not as stable. But if you mean coming from a previous version of Office to Office 2007 I know what your talking about. I had a hard time getting used to the new layout, and still prefer the old menu style to the quick access bar.

But if you take a your time and look through it you will find everything that was once in the menus is still there, just have to get used to the new feel.

The differences are visual. Vista is much cooler with it's style, sidebar, windows aero etc. But, you can do the same job on XP. And for stable Vista you must have 2GB of RAM.

The cooler thing would be to be able to type on a forum without the OS freezing on you for 3 seconds before catching up to what you have typed. From that perspective, I still think XP is the cooler of the uncool. I will just stick to my mac :)

I believe Vista is a good OS cept for the way it makes me feel trapped inside of its windows. If its office 2007 you are having problems with, it does work like the previous versions but many functions are under different menus.

i can see where the OP is coming from. maybe "difficult" isn't the right word but many of the changes they've made are not intuitive which just makes the whole vista thing frustrating - e.g. in an attempt to tighten security they introduced the whole UAC thing which is just a pain in the arse. for someone using a pc at home and a secure setup all you're getting are a whole lot of popups and interference that you don't need or want. I know that people will get on here say "it's ok, you can turn it off". that's true, but you've got to get on google and figure out how to unravel the whole thing and you ask yourself "why should I have to do this".
