So I'm very familiar with SEO with Wordpress (blogs and niche sites). I know how to make sure it's the best of the best. Anyway, now I'm doing something different. My dad asked me to make a site for his business (it's a limo service). So I made him a site with wordpress, and I helped him add the pages he needed (in total, posts + pages = 5). Now, I used the SEO plugin for wordpress to make sure the site would be search engine friendly. Now, since this is not a normal site (and will not be updated anymore, likely, unless for minor edits, etc), how would I go about getting him a good rank on terms such as "limo service", etc? It's a little tough since I can't use target keywords in posts and such like I'm used to (since there are no more posts being made) Gimme some advice. Thanks.
If your Dad's website will be static with no changes then you just optimize it like a normal website. Since your Dad owns a limo service then you can localize the search by putting your state or city in the title and description. Then you will want to submit to several directories and write good articles and press releases to get links. Always remember that when you optimize his website for lets say a "Limo Service In LA" that you preform keyword research on all of your keywords or phrases to make sure that your dad will get good traffic to his site through those. Then use your 3-5 major keywords as anchor text in your articles and directories & his website should soar!
a lot of your work on a static site would be offsite SEO getting the proper backlinks with your desired anchor text.
Make sure you set up a Webmaster Tools account for this site and submit XML Sitemaps weekly. As suggested already, go to a "Local Search" SEO strategy by adding the City/Connecticut(?) to the keywords. Then make the following changes: Add the following to your DP Sig inks : "Limousine Service Connecticut Limo Service" linked to your dads site. Add to the <title> of the home page: "Limousine Service Connecticut Limo Service : Airport Limo Service for Corporate VIP Executives - Luxury Stretch Limousine for Prom, Party, and Weddings" Add to the <h1> tag : "Limousine Service Connecticut - City Limo Service" And remember, since you dad's site is new it will be in the Google Sandbox for 6 to 8 months. Just keep building links. Also, every ~ two weeks, make a small change to the web pages. This changes the "Last-Modified-Date" of each of the web pages, this will bring Google back to index the site again. ************* Then setup Googles "Local Business Center" using an Address in the City you are targeting (City Name outside area will not show up). Then fill out the "Categories" section. You have upto 5 and the "strings" entered should be considered "Exact Match" keyword phrases. (i.e. what the user types in is what is returned). This will get the site more action from the start. Although I am testing this now, I think position is based on the "clicks". So, if you show up, get all your friends with PC to click on this Local Search once a day for ~ 2 weeks. This should send him to the top. Also, look for our Benchmark on this. Your input will be very interesting.
1. Start building links with the right anchor text (limo service, etc.) 2. Start blogging on http://www.mylimositeexample.com/blog and write a few articles every week. Link to your main domain from time to time. Your site will become bigger (easier for SEO) and will get more organic traffic. You will be able to target a lot more long tail keywords Think about http://www.seobook.com/blog and do something similar.
