I have a compaq F500 laptop with IE7. It's Vista. Should I try FireFox? I never used it before.

Nah Better stick to IE. Why bother to change to the most powerful and most reliable browser?

    In a word, Yes.

Firefox has much more innovations and now IE is just the copycat.

I'd say, install FF, check out the addons, and see if you like it. I have 3 browsers that I commonly use.

    Google Chrome is fast.
    FF is powerful.
    IE is, well, just ok.

Compaq told me if I switched to another browser (in this case, FireFox, they'd void my laptop's warranty).

My warranty is now expired as of last month. Now I am thinking about changing to something different. maybe google chrome if its faster. I like speed :D

How can they dictate what programs you install?

Gawd, another reason not to buy anything from Compaq.

If you are using IE, the speed will only go one way.
But if you want the fastest browser, check out Opera. :)

That is nonsense. Why would they care what internet browser, or software (in general) that you use.

I agree. Compaq is lame for choosing what you can use or not.
Must have contracts with different companies >_>

Anyway, i like firefox.. The addons make it the #1 web browser. I highly suggest it.

Yeah, it was disappointing that they dictate what programs I can use...

What are some of 'must have' FF addons? Should I download FireFox through a DP affiliate so they get paid?

Compaq have to be joking. That's the funniest thing I've heard all day.

In regards to the original question, FF has definitely got a ton of advantages over IE. However, imo FF3 sucks. I currently use ff2 portable from portableapps.
