How can I get wireless internet legally in new house before it's hooked up?

The pain of waiting weeks for someone to install it, is there any way to have wireless internet for my laptop legally, I don't want to steal signals.

    Any ideas?

Stealing is illegal, I will stop at that.

I heard of some kind of card in the past, maybe someone can help me here.

    This is Canada ;)

Why don't you just get an account from your ISP?

They sell internet cards at most leading department stores like target and wal-mart.

Buy one from a mobile/cell phone company. Like iphone 3G, you just pay monthly and can get Internet anywhere.

Wait--you currently have "hard wired" broadband, correct? (DSL/Cable Internet Access).

If you do, just go buy a $10 wireless router at your nearest Staples/Circuit City/Best Buy (might be more than $10... I'd pay $20 max) and just set it up--takes like 10 minutes.

Let's try this from the top:

I have a newer laptop with WiFi capabilities. I am currently staying somewhere with wireless internet but very soon I will be moving into a house and won't have it hooked up yet. I want to have internet on my laptop with a "card" if there is one.

    Is that clear enough?

In that case, you will need to have a Data Card.. You should contact your local mobile service provider.

Now the data card, is it permanent internet, paid by the hour, or how does that work?

I am Googling now but can't find anything relevant really.

Where are you from? In my place you can get GPRS connection in one day. Legality depends on your country's law. so cant answer unless you tell your country. :D
