Ok, So I read and read. I got a domain, found a product, built a site, wrote countless articles, got PPC advertising, posted is the niche's related forums and more. It seams I done everything execpt go door to door trying to sell the product. I have not made one sale. People are visiting my site, clicking my ads with no luck. I ask myself why am I doing this? I log into clickbank everymorning hopeing for that first sale to come in with no luck. After I log into click bank and se no sales I check to see if people are clicking my ads. Then I check how many people are visiting my site. Im getting hits and clicks but no sales. All this effort I am putting in is leading me no where I can't even make a lousy 17 bucks. So my question is how long did it take for your first sale? Did you go through a bunch of crap like I am going through? Did you ever get discouraged and want to quit?
Yeh, if it was that easy everyone would be doing it. You got an opt-in on your site to capture their email addresses and hopefully try to sell to them later via follow up emails?
Sounds like it's time to start doing some testing. Try a new landing page, move the graphics around on your existing page. Do something different, then route half your traffic to the old page and half to the new page. - Russ
I feel your pain,, but as kinitex said, patience. You have no back-links as of now so keep doing your marketing. I've yet to make a sale (almost a month in) but I'm doing a great deal of marketing that should come to fruition soon.
it took me almost a month to get my first sale ... for sure 16 hops is not a lot ... what's your website visitors / hops ratio ? it'll never be 100%, but you want to try and increase this so do the split testing as suggested .... just keep building traffic ... if you get to a couple of hundred hops and still no sale, look at something else
You should get more backlinks for your landing page. submit more articles, and start another site. Don't put all your egg in one basket.
No, I have no clue how to do this yet. Do I need to setup a database on my site to be able to do this? So I should make another page all together with different content to try different things and see what works better? How will I know how to design it? Just wing it and see what works? 16? thats it? shit!. Im sure i was at least 3-4 of them testing my links. is their a way I cancheckmy self how many hops Ihad to your site? So this takes awhile to get started up? From what i read in ebooks you put up a site do alitle advertising and then you make 100K over a weekend. Of course I know this BS but I figured it would of been alittle quicker then this. and what is fruition? so I should market more to get my hops up and I should expect a sale soon? yeah im at 16 hops so far i guess i expected a sale quicker then this. thanks. im trying for it. thanks everyone fo their replies. I guess all the hype from those damn ebooks made it sound so simple to do. "get a website, get adverstising, make money overnight while you sleep" they should market those damn books like "buy a creative domain name, get hosting, learn html without killing someone, write 5,000 articles, answer 4,000 yahoo answers, cuss at your html program, punch your refredgerator a few times, spend more money in advertising, post a thousand post in a forum, make a new website cause the first one you made shows graphics in all the wrong places, smoke a pack of smokes a hour trying to figure out how to get a email box on your site, do step 3 and on all over again, and then wait a month for your first sale! That would be more realistic advertising. But anyway thanks everyone I guess I need to just stick with it. But dammit I will get one sale hopefully by the end of the year! Nilzar
Ha. I love it. I'm stealing this sales copy for my next MMO product landing page! On another note, if you're looking to build an e-mail list. Try aweber. Nearly everyone swears that it's the best tool for the job. They'll provide you with the code to add the e-mail submit form to your site. All you have to mess with is managing your list from their backend.
6 months with Click bank have links on over 20 sites and have YET to make a sale... I gave up waiting. Personally think it's a crap shoot.
Just remember it's not supposed to be so easy or everyone would be doing it, you have to fight for your first few sales and improve from there onwards, it's a long and bumpy road but there's victory to bask in at the end
GeminiFilly and what number of hops you did get ? Also 20 links maybe nothing depending on the niche.
Bottom line is that it's all about the traffic. You could have 500 sites built to sell Clickbank products (or any other product for that matter,) but if those sites aren't getting any traffic or if that traffic isn't clicking though your landing page to the sales page, then you won't make a dime.
Any type of sales is about traffic, whether that is footfall into a store or via an internet page. Not everyone who walks into a store will buy, same with CB, it is all about conversion and every product is different. There are so many people who think this is easy and will happen over night, I have been learning for over a year and it took me months to get enough traffic to convert. Good luck with it, you will make sales eventually if you send enough targetted traffic to the right product, it depends if you can be bothered and if you have patience.
I usually don't do this but I'll give you an overview of my journey. I've opened a topic when I made my first sale and you can read about it here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=640148 The topic was opened 7th of January 2008. And I've started learning about internet marketing in September of 2007. As you can notice from that topic I've put quite some work into that single sale. It's been a true struggle.. Trying and trying and failing every single time. But then I made my first sale and I felt like I'm the king of internet marketing. It was a lot of fun. I remember talking with my friend who's into internet marketing too and we were both so enthusiastic we made a deal we'll be making $500 of profit by the summer of 2008. But after that sale it took me over 3 months of work to make my 2nd sale! Ouch. I've been told countless times I'll fail to make this work. Everyone around me was telling me "Armando, this is a bunch of crap.. It doesn't work.. Look you've been working on this FOR MONTHS and you've made 20 lousy bucks!" All this pressure I've been putting on myself has made me doubt I'll be ever able to make it work... But in reality I was FAR FAR AWAY from accepting the possibility I might fail at this. I just couldn't let myself accept it. So I kept working on it because I knew internet marketing is a skill just like anything else. You can't expect to become a good tennis player in 6 months, can you? What you CAN expect though is that you'll SUCK BIG TIME for the first year and that you'll start getting better and better exponentially. And in time I've gotten a bit better with this marketing deal and I remember how I had my first 5 sales in one day a few months ago. I said to myself "Well I wasn't the internet king when I made my first sale but I am the king now". And as you can guess I was wrong yet again. After that 5 sales day everything just went down. I realized that I'm at the start again - so I went back to the drawing board. Working on it day after day I've started a new project 2 weeks ago and I've been getting sales almost every single day from that day on. Every morning that I wake up I see one or two emails from clickbank informing me about new sales. And what a great feeling that is! But this time I didn't make the mistake of thinking I have finally arrived. This time I know I have to put even more energy in it. I know I have to put even more time in it. It's a never ending process. And the only way you can fail in this process is if you stop trying. Never ever stop trying.
GeminiFilly, this may sound harsh to hear, but maybe there were a lot of things you did wrong. Am I an expert? By no means. But for a guy that basically just got started, I've seen 'some' success. Am I ready to quit my day job? Not quite. But from the checks I've seen already, I'm going back for more. All I've done is look for products that have a gravity of about 80 or higher. Next, buy a domain similar to the product name. Either build a landing page or redirect the domain. Write myself some articles. (Since I didn't know anything about my target, I hired writers to write articles for me). When the articles arrived I submitted them to EA. Once accepted I submitted to many of the sites on both onlywire.com and socialmarker.com. My site got indexed and I began getting traffic from multiple sources. Don't ask me why, but I started getting sales almost immediately. My first project was 4 minute money. $4.95 for 7 days then 50 bucks a month after that. I got my first sale in just a few days. I made about $1. 87 I think. But I'll tell you what; when I checked my stats and saw a sale I felt like the king of IM too like Armando. I'm still on the first page on G for the key phrase 4 minute money. Doesn't make money anymore, doesn't even get any hops, but if 4 minute money ever pick up, i'm in a good position to profit. I've said a lot, and I hope some of what I said was helpful. The main thing to remember is that you must be willing to be a bad internet marketer while you're learning to be a good internet marketer. Don't ever give up. Keep learning and keep testing. Only you can decide that all your time has been wasted. If you're smart, you'll use it as experience and move on with confidence. Decide now that you will never quit. Decide to succeed no matter how long it takes. It's easy to want instant gratification but that's just not real life. In real life many doctors are in college over 10 years before they see their first patient. Relax, have confidence in yourself and your future and move into the future with confidence. Demond
