Do you think it is more important to comment on blogs consistently, or comment more on new blogs? I keep a list of blogs I comment on, and some days I comment on blogs I've commented on before, and others I find new blogs to comment on. So, the base question is, should I focus on old blogs or new blogs? Thanks!
It is more important to comment on different blogs than focusing to only one do-follow blog. But of course, make sure that it is related to your site. Post quality and relevant comments.

Also track your comments to follow the conversations where you add comments, it will help you to post new comments and to take the discussions forward and help you to build network with blogger community.
i wouldnt waste me time doing blogs that have no follows on though, you could really really waste an awful long time commenting on blogs and all there doin is nothing seo wise to your sites
It's better to comment on different blogs, because if you continue commenting on the same old blog for many times, you might be considered as a spammer by the owner of the blog. Just make it sure that you post comment on blogs related to your niche and are dofollow to help increase your site's backlinks.
I am highly aware of the dofollow issue, and it is hard to find dofollow blogs relevant to me so I just use any one. And blog owners don't consider you a spammer if you post a lot; in fact, they like it, as long as your are making meaningful comments.
Well, frankly I think of my fraternities motto when I approach the topic of blog commenting: From breadth, through depth, to perspective. Start out with a good list of high quality blogs (not necessarily all dofollow) and comment on them normally occasionally adding more blogs to your list.
It will be better to comments on old blogs if they are really very good in quality and having high PR. And if not than you can move to new forums.
Even no follow posts if well written and not spammy will help. They will still help with branding and traffic if used properly. They will also, most importantly, boost your expert authority and trust. I mean look at ezinearticles and one of their most prolific article spammers/writers. He was shut down for flagrant fraud by the FTC and yet the internet and especially ezinearticles sees him as an expert.
Before considering about blog comment think about this three things. (1) Do-follow (2) Higher Pr (3) relevant
commenting on different blogs coz some day the blog owner might change its comments to no follow plus if u are commenting regularly on a blog it should be a top commentator blog just my two cent
Makes no difference to me whether it is old or new. What is more important is whether the blog commenting is done on high PR and traffic dofollow page.
