My site has a combination of unqiue and borrowed articles. I am getting more unique articles written right now and will hopefully change the balance to more unqiue versus borrowed. Does Google take the into consideration when ranking your site and indexing it? Is it better to have a blog with 3-5 unique posts and no other content yet?
To improve your search engine ranking, keep posting regular content in your blog. Also hyperlink main keywords in your blog it will help in increasing your ranking.
@karmadir Thanks for the tips. @abook I found that digg did not appreciate that and yanked my digging privileges...lol...my bad.
Google will not send traffic to the articles that are copied from other sites even if you include link to the article. You may get traffic for those articles for 2-3 days, but in long term, that is not a good idea. I suggest you concentrate more on unique content, that is what google likes the most.
OK. Would it make a difference now if I removed all that other content, or do you think it matters? Thanks Angilina.
Duplicate content on your site does you no good at all. If it helps your visitors then leave it. If you're adding it just to increase the content on your site get rid of it.
Gone. I have purchased unique articles and schedule them over the next 7 days and will be getting more. I appreciate all the responses and the input. Thanks!
I dont think you are penalised for duplicate but I dont think it would help you in anyway with google.
Unique content is the way to go. Try and write some articles on your own, this will save you dollars.
Think of what might be the importance of your content. Google loves unique and new things around and will surely rank them. Others also have success on giving good support articles on existing topics.
Keep your site loaded with full of original and unique contents which is liked not only by google but also by the human visitors. Borrowed contents will never get appreciation from any one.
Focus on what is better for your website visitors, and search engines will follow in most cases.. However you still need quality backlinks and some unique content to rank high for your targeted keywords.
Duplicate content is not like by Google, so you should target unique content only. The question is when a page has a combination of both. If 50% of the content is from another site, you are busted. The issue here is that the "template" text is also considered in the calculations. Put the common template text together with the copied text and you violate the "Duplicate Content" rule.
I don't think that it is a good for you to have content which is mirrored, especially when you are not the original source. It is much better to develop an unique content, useful for your visitors.
ok, it doesn't matter if it's unique or if you have more of it.. What you want is to have the "best" content. Think of it like you have a template design site. Do you want to have unique designs or just a lot of them? the answer is you want to have a good variety, but you want to have the BEST looking designs. This way people will tell people about your site. And the only way Google tells people about your site is if people are telling people about your site. check my sig to see if Google thinks people are telling people about your site
