Well, the Dow Jones dropped today for more than 600 points to its lowest level in five years What are your predictions for online companies? What companies will have even more customers while other will go out of business? Here is what I think online: 1. eBay - people will start looking more for deals on eBay 2. all kind of freelance sites - lots of people will be laid off 3. what else? offline: 1. pawn shops 2. what else?
Well people will probably go online because of the crises, so things that will be used most would be amazon.com Offline: GoodWill's Discount stores
I think that people might decrease spending altogether, so eBay purchases will go down. Question for Affiliate Marketers: Is anyone seeing an overall decrease in sales in any way as of late?
One of my clients told me today that Clickbank has been dead for the last few days. I think that once people calm down a little bit and stop panicking, most things will pick back up. I think that online, you'll probably see a lot more people trying affiliate marketing and needing help with their websites while, offline, sites like Craigslist and eBay will get saturated with sellers trying to make a few extra $$. As far as Goodwill and second hand stores, they will probably see quite a bit more in sales but their donations will probably diminish as people try to sell their things themselves. Or, you know, since charity donations are tax deductibe, they'll see a huge influx of donations from people trying to offset any tax raises that might happen in the next tax cycle.
I agree I think people are looking for deals online and ways to make money online especially with Christmas coming up
I think all areas, online and offline will experience a slowdown in sales, but this whole period will serve as a weeding out period getting rid of some of the competitors who do not really offer the best products and prices to the customers.
The online discount shops will do better as more people avoid luxury items and concentrate on the essentials. Those selling luxury items will definitely take a big hit as they are very recession prone. Ebay may still be doing well as they are providing a marketplace for trading cheaper stuff and 2nd hand goods. Online Advertising budget will sure to go down as companies tighten their belts, I would expect Google and Yahoo to be hit.
yeah, that's what I've been told today: first thing that company will be cutting of their budgets is advertisement...
Google will be a long term play, companies will cut the advertising budget, the analysts are not so stupid as not to know this. This will result in more sell down of Google. But Google is a strong company with $13 billion of cash, it may cut down on some of its wastage and emerge much stronger. Buy on weakness of Google will be a good thing. But this is if you have surplus money, I am sure the rewards will be great 5 years down the road.
I hope that the Christmas shopping season will still be brisk and provide some relief to retailers and especially the online marketers and shops. Lower priced items are poised to do just fine.
I cant see christams doing anything but futher pouring petrol on the fire.. Lets face it.. if you have limited funds. are you going to spend what you have on presents and toys.. when the economic climate is so dreadful ? I think people will not spend.. causing more misery on the highstreet and more misery on the economy. more job cuts.. less dealing on the financial markets. everyone panics = financial meltdown - question is what can you do about it ?
I think online ads is key.. Maybe a blog that focuses on the financial crisis... Get good search rankings and you should be money...
I say the market is going lower. We noticed a big hit on sales about two weeks ago, but things have started to get better than they've ever been. That said, we are a new company, so it is probably a combination of natural growth and Christmas buying. Either way, works for me.
Entertainment industries are generally recession proof. When times are bad, people seek entertainment more than ever. Blockbuster movies will fade away becuase they'll be too expensive to make, but low budget films will survive. Low budget entertainment, in general, will survive. As for online stuff, if it gets bad enough fewer peole will be online because they will be looking for work to keep the electricity on. A lot of people still use dial-up, which has become more expensive these days (from what I've seen), so they'll probably drop Internet service to save money.
I beg to differ, entertainment industries will be one of those worse hit. In a recession, families care about survival about their next meal and not about their next movie or next DVD.
Google will be experiencing a big drop, I think. First, they changed the QS in adwords system, makes everyone need to spend more to be on the top position. However, everyone is spending less on online goods so the companies will cut their advertisement budgets. It means many people will stop their campaign on adwords because they know it'll not really profitable anymore. I think if you're talking about internet world, maybe business opportunities offers will work well during the recession era. More people will be interested to try make money online, this is your chance to grab them. However, we both know that this niche is way too saturated. So good luck... I heard dating and diet offers are still working fine but obviously not luxury goods.
