Local Business Center

I've submitted my Business to their local business center on Google Maps but it does not come up in the first 10 local business result on Google SERP.

Does anyone have any idea how to optimise to make this happen?

    Thanks

Have you search with exact keywords?

The BC seems to be very special. At the moment I am diskussing on the german Google-Forum how to get listed there properly and no one seems to have a clue.

At least no one is saying it.

I can find my listing if I search for the company name in Google Maps but you know how it delivers 10 BC listings on the regular Google SEPR say for a search "web design London" - I was wondering how you can optimise for that.

People have said to place keywords in the company name and to submit to trusted local directories i.e. in the UK Yell.com and Thomson local business centre.

Was wondering if they take your website into consideration - e.g. PR or theme??

First you must have a Local Business Center Account that has been verified.
Then go to your "locations" and select "edit".
Make sure all info is filled out correctly.

Now fill out the "Categories" fields with the Keyword Phrases you want to show for. Don't use their recommendations. Just override it. You have only 5 categories to use, so be creative on double use phrases.

And in 2 days, I was showing up.

Note: The only variable that I changed that may have an affect on this, is I have a Wylie TX USA location and I want to display in Dallas TX USA. Therefore I used my girlfriends Dallas address.

And yes, I will play with this and start a DP Tread on this when I know what I am doing.

    Hope this helps... Stay tuned.

What I posted earler was correct but with a change.

Local Placement is based on the string that is "City" (i.e. London, Dallas etc.)

This string puts you in the local map or

search phrase " internet marketing dallas" will match the category (the keyword phrase you stored) and the city string (dallas) you stored in the "City/Town" in the Basic Information form.

Anyway, I'm showing up for all of my categories.

    *********************

Now the question is "What creates the placement position?" Or how does Google create the priority?

Thanks catanich I'm now starting to show for my searches.
