Hello, my name is Gordon Martin, I am married with three daughters, live in Lisburn in Northern Ireland which is part of the United Kingdom

Digital Point got recommended to me as a good place for templates, web and blog design services.

As I am working on a number of blogs, i thought this would be a worthwhile place to check out.

Just having a look around at the moment.

Good to be here folks and thanks for having me.

I see that there are quite a few refractions going on and banning, not quite sure how that works yet, so I hope I can learn and keep on the right side of the moderators.

I have never been banned from a forum, so I do not want to change that here.

    Til next time

    Kindest

    [Hi Briguy,

I am not sure what bumping is, even after reading the FAQ's :) I am sure I will get tyhe hang of things. I would not intentionally do something wrong, as I believe in sticking to rules and procedures, but I am human, and as humans do, I have the ability to make a mistake.

It just seems to me that there was quite a few bans etc. here, and I am not just 100% clear on the whys, clearly people are doing things they should not be doing.

I could not help asking myself if there were those who got themselves banned, and genuinely had done something which they were not aware was wrong.

Don't know if that makes any sense

    Just my thoughts

    Kindest

    Gordon

Need to read through a few more posts and get to grips with the rules, procedures and policies etc, and I guess the best thing to do if I am inclear is to ask.

Thanks once again for the welcome Briguy

    Good to be here

I spent two hours or so looking around this forum and I found a guy Mhakim who seemed to be providing a very cheap and reasonable service for web design services. As I understand it I am not allowed to buy or sell in the trading section? Is that right?

I would like to contact this guy, but when I looked this morning he had a permanent ban, I believe he was banned before but temporary, I am not sure why, whether he was asking people to pm him? and that is not allowed? Or whether he was selling off the forum? and that is not allowed?

Anyway, to cut a long story short, it looks like he is banned permanently, I take it that means I will have to look over the services section again and get someone else, as I do not think I can contact him? and if I did, then it is not allowefd anyway? Is that a fair enough assumption?

Thanks for any enlightenment you can help me with?

    Kindest

    Gordon

Thanks both to Gringo and TJ

I am wondering am I allowed to thank those that welcome me?

Common courtesy would tell me that the answer is yes, but am I to read from the rules and the faqs that this is not the case, due to the possibility that one is trying to gather up posts?

to much politics. I think its fine as long as its not an obvious way of simply bumping up the thread - dont stress it

    Hi TJ

My nature is to be friendly with people and I have always been told it is rude to not acknowledge emails and posts. I find that the internet can be very impersonal at times, and it can sometimes be a real challenge to even get an answer from someone when you are looking to do business with them and send them money.

I will just take it easy TJ, and learn as I go along

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

    Hi Gordon,

If you haven't read the rules yet, I suggest you go through http://forums.digitalpoint.com/announcement.php?f=24
    and http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=216611

Thanking people for welcoming is certainly not wrong, but I think it would be better if you thanked everybody in one post after a few hours rather than thanking them individually a few minutes after they have posted.

You seem to take a fair bit of time and effort to personalise every reply, so it is quite obvious you are not here to spam or boost your post count.

Enjoy your time here, and hope to see you become an esteemed member of this wonderful community :)

Thanks for the link and also the welcome, I will bear in mind using one post to thank a few people, rather than thanking each individually.

Apart from that, I have a feeling I would be on here all day otherwise, it seems to be a very busy forum all right.

Thanks for the welcome once again.

    Kindest

    Hi Grmpyk

Please see further down this post where I have replied to the points you made:

I'm new here too! But from what I understand you can't use or post in the sale type of forums until after you reach a post count and/or time since you first registered.

I am going to have a good read through the rules because I have an awful habit of learning as I go along. Think it is a bloke thing, when I buy something, I try and figure out how it works and then when I get stuck, I then consult the user manual <grin>

And it's on those types of forums where they are probably more concerned with in regards to bumping threads. Generally, from my experience on forums, as long as you are going about your daily stuff without trying to get more post counts or abusing the "system" (whatever it is on that forum) you are safe from getting slapped (banned etc).

Sounds fair enough, not sure I understand all the rules to be honest, seems to be quite a few, but I am sure I will get my head around it all as time progresses.

The infraction thing.. I think after a while they are removed if you get one. From what I've read on this forum.

    Again, that sounds very fair

And btw, I love it when people honestly introduce themselves like you did. I too found this forum from looking for free wp themes. There seems to be so much more here that I haven't even started in on yet lol

Thanks for that. It is going to take a while to get around this place, that's for sure :)

Glad to meet you! I'm a late 30's crazy cat lady living in the GTA of Ontario. No kids, but lots of kitties and a hubby who is really just an older kid anyway lol[/QUOTE]

Hubby an older kid, he might dispute that <grin> Great to meet you here

    Kindest
