Stumble Upon Marketing

I know a lot of people seem to think that Stumble Upon traffic is not good due to the high bounce rates, but looking through my logs, it is the best source of traffic on my site with the lowest bounce rate.

I would like to improve my SU profile. I've seen quite a few brand new SU profiles that are only a few months old, have garbage for content, don't have any personal blog that they promote on their profile page, yet have 100s of subscribers.

How do they manage to get so big so quickly?

Thats an interesting read... i does seem that if you get the nack to stumbleupon you will be rewarded with huge amounts of traffic. Its probably more about the content you submit and being active in the SU community !

I have only started using it, but it does seem that some viral pages can explode your traffic literally overnight!

What's your other sources of traffic? Because I'm very surprised by this.

SU constantly provides the weakest traffic to my blogs and websites. It's just the nature of the way in which it works, it's pointless!

Well the first day it gave me 700 new visitors... This month 220 Use good tags. I'm not very active so that should not be a problem :)

They might be getting subscribers in return while you subscribe for them, just guessing coz it could be a possibility. :D

That happens for me sometimes too. You can't always believe what everyone else says, you never know when they are just trying to keep the traffic for themselves ;)

Tyler, I'm not really looking to become a top stumbler but just want to get some more weight by having more subscribers.

macG, I'm not sure what you mean by "you subscribe for them". I wasn't aware that you can subscribe others to your SU profile.

Hi Sarah, I receive a huge amount of traffic from SU too, but it doesn't happen to every stories that I stumbled. I used to ask my friends to help me stumble a story so that I can receive high traffic for any of my sites, but I think they can detect the pattern. So, you shouldn't request the same person to stumble the post for you to get lots of hits from SU thumb ups.

In that case, Dosh Dosh also has a post with five tips for increasing your SU network.

SU is great. Specially for smaller sites. I don't think you should be to afraid about what people say about bounce rates. If you have a feed and can get some links and secondary traffic everytime you have a pike you should get your share of visitors quite fast.

I also noticed someone posted a link to Doshdosh. I would recomend reading there, it's great stuff. I also made a huge post about social networks on my blog that anyone who is interested can check out here: http://hightechz.com/?p=50

I've been an active SU user, but never understood the basis on which sometimes I get good traffic and sometimes nothing. The detailed article sounds very logical. Thanks for sharing!
