Hi,

I run a cosmetics website and am trying to increase my rankings as much as i can but i was wondering apart from link building (which i am doing) is there anything that you suggest for me to do with the site itself or anything else.

    URL: www(dot)wishco(delete this)smetics(dot)co(dot)uk

Keywords i want to get found on is:

    dermalogica
    dermalogica products
    dermalogica skin
    cheap dermalogica

Now i am getting ok results from these keywords but not great, the best is cheap dermalogica which is page one http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=cheap+dermalogica&btnG=Search&meta=

Ideally i want to be found for just dermalogica, but was wondering if i can do anything better than i am doing to make this happening.

    Cheers,
    Adam

ok the best bits of advice i have, probably the navigation

dermalogica strikes me as a touch spammy, i dnt know if google would pick up on that, try dropping some of these words.

    and under the
try and get more text there, it looks far far too light.

no text basically looks like its got no real content on the page, get about 250/300words in there, all of good relvancy, you can probably make up for lost keywords in your navigation but not too much.

the biggest key for seo is not just the keywords appearing but totally relvant text!

    hope this helps.

ps. i know its an actinic site, and i dnt fully know how it works, but if you can clean up the code, ie youve got < br > instead of < br /> then it will be crawled much much easier by google.

You should get more backlinks with those keywords as the exact link anchor text. The links are much more important than onpage seo.

First, you are using "Dermalogica " to many time. This is called SPAM.

From an On-Page standpoint, you have missed some very important keywords. Using Google's AdWords Keyword tool, you could have created a "title" reflecting many of the keywords.

    May I suggest:

Dermalogica Skin Care Products : Beauty Treatment Cream Cleanser For The Body, Eye, Face - Special Cleansing Microfoliant Oil

But it is your Off-Page (links) that are missing.

If the site is yours, I would place a SIG link back to the site like:Dermalogica Skin Care Products

    and see if this helps.

Thanks for everyone's replies, i would like to question your suggestion for the title though. I believed that google only reads 65 characters of your title and that is 125 so would only ready half. Also i know the site is spammy but i will be selling different brands in the near future so that is why all the products have the brand in there as they will be split into different sections. I don't think i that i have been penalized for this either or i would have no rankings at all.

You are true in stating that Google truncates anything after 65-70 characters in your title. However is it never said that Google does not index all of it so effectively if you used anything over 65-70 characters would not so up in SERPs but still be in Google's index. I read about an experiment (I can't find a link to it now) which showed that test page ranked for a keyword which appeared well after those 65-70 characters. SO IMO you could very well give it try. If it doesn't work you can always revert back.

I would also suggest against the use of word 'cheap'. From a marketers perspective it does not portray a very good image. You could always use th word 'discounted' instead.

Aesthetically the website looks good but the over use of word 'dermalogica' could potentially be a cause of concern.

Apart from link building targeting your keywords you could also try your hand at content syndication and social media to give a boost your efforts.
