Dude that was not an apology. You were and are wrong on healthcare

I was not trying to be offensive to your wife.

So the word 'apologize' is not an apology, ok thanks for straightening me out.

BTW the 'apology' came well after the part about my wife.

Also thank you for showing me that I live in Russia and not the US. The specialist I needed to see was not a 2+ month waiting time. I see the error of my ways.

Thank God Homebiz in his little area of the US with his limited experience with health care in the US is an expert to prove me wrong.

Now once I get back to the US, 'you know the real US' not my fake US I live in I will be all better. No more waits at all.

HMMM you are cherry picking on what I was talking about again. You are a tool and that's why I like talking to you. You are taking what I intended to your spouse and tried to apply it to the whole.

There was sarcasm on another and I removed it.

2 months for life threatening. ROFL

Do you want me to call and get you in this week to a specialist?

I am not 'cherry picking' the 'spouse' item happened before that post.

This is the post that covered my wife.
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=9429539&postcount=111

This is the post in question, AFTER my wife was brought up.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=9429665&postcount=114
Actually it was about when I stated my family did not even recognize me with all the weight I lost.
You do realize 'life threatening' does not need to be a bullet in the heart do you not? 'Life Threatening' is what my doctor used, the reason I was rushed to the emergency room direct from her office! The reason I was able to get into the specialist in 2 weeks instead of the 2+ month 'waiting list'

Ahh yes because Homebiz is our local expert on the medical situation in this country. Do you accept credit card?

No, you don't need your glasses, you need to broaden your search. You seem quick to discount what I say as total BS, when I have no reason to write anything other than the truth. If you are going to try disproving what I said, you should know that posting ONE statement by Caroline Kennedy will not do the trick. This was months ago; I'm thinking late winter or early spring. It was before the whole Kennedy family came out formally in support of Obama. It was a sit-down TV interview (network TV, I believe), and I will do all I can to find it for you...so you won't mistakenly take me for a liar.;)

I will say that after a bit of thought last night, it COULD have been Maria Shriver, who actually dealt this comment. If I find this to be true, then I will absolutely extend my apologies and an explanation to YOU personally.

This quote stood out in my mind at that time, and a few weeks or months later, when I heard President Eisenhower's granddaughter answer the same question the same way. She was asked why she supports Obama, and she said (almost verbatim), "well, we have the opportunity to make history here". I remember thinking, "why can't anyone come up with a better reason than that...". It was VERY early on, and before all the formal endorsements began.

But I assure you, it is not fiction.

Trust me when I tell you that I HOPE I am wrong about Obama; because even though I will not be voting for him, I believe he will win this election.

    That's fine, Tara. I'm not calling you a liar. It's pretty basic. I'm saying I don't see:

Again - regardless of who it is - if someone said they wanted to put him in office because he was black, I'd have a problem with that as well.

Now, if someone said, it would make history were a black american, or female, or anyone else from a background previously not elected to the office, they'd be right.

I'd be very surprised to hear that Maria Shriver, or Caroline Kennedy, would endorse Obama because of the historical import of electing a black man into the presidency. Which is what you're claiming. The info I have on Shriver's endorsement, for instance, says nothing of the kind: http://articles.latimes.com/2008/feb/04/nation/na-maria4.

Just saw this. Well put. I can live with that. I guess I see a lot more revealed now than previously, and the guy is stepping up to the plate to surpass the hype - but the hype is still the hype.

I don't know how either one of them will pay for this, to be honest.

AGAIN...YOU ARE PULLING FROM THE WRONG POOL OF EVIDENCE. I AM TELLING YOU WHAT I SAW, AND WHAT I HEARD. I KNOW WHAT HAS BEEN SAID SINCE THEN. I REALIZE YOU ARE NOT FINDING WHAT I AM "CLAIMING" WHERE YOU ARE LOOKING. I TOLD YOU I WILL FIND WHERE IT CAME FROM - INFORMAL INTERVIEW BEFORE THE FORMAL ENDORSEMENTS KICKED IN, ON NETWORK TV...PROBABLY A DAYTIME TALK SHOW OR NEWS SHOW. I DISTINCTLY REMEMBER BEING HOME SICK FROM WORK.

IF YOU AREN'T CALLING ME A LIAR, THEN STOP REFUTING MY CLAIM BY POSTING ONLY ONE THING THAT DOES NOT CONTAIN THE QUOTE(S) I AM REFERRING TO, AND TALKING TO ME AS IF IT NEVER HAPPEND. AGAIN, I ASSURE YOU IT DID. BE "SURPRISED" IF YOU PLEASE, BUT ALLOW ME THE TIME TO BACK UP MY STATMENT.

And, yes, you are right, it would be a historical event for a woman, a black man, etc. to become president. However, it isn't right to vote anyone into office because it would be a historical event (as you stated also).

Understandably, many women wanted Hillary for the same reason; and now, that is something many female Palin supporters could claim. I, however, am not one of them. I would NEVER vote for someone based on their ability to re-write history; just by being "the first" anything. That is, unless he or she would be "the first PERFECT" president, who makes all the right calls at all the right times.

I'm going to stop posting in Politics & Religion. I should have known better.

And to the person who red repped me, no, I am not "slow". And no, no one told me to say this. Thank you.

I would NEVER red rep anyone for making a statement regarding their views, and what is absolutely true. I don't offer red reps in religion and politics forums because I live in American, and agree everyone should be able to speak freely.

    Simple minds...on personal attack. Nice.

Well, get used to this kind of childish behavior around here. I never understood repping someone for an opinion. I only really use the rep system for the rest of the forum where people are actually helpful or being a thief....

Takes thick skin to walk in these parts....

Tara, your posting all caps, the equivalent of yelling, doesn't do much, except show that you are, apparently, really angry. You continue to miss the point. You did say:

And I'd ask you to please re-read what I actually wrote:

As in, well, what I said. I'd be surprised to hear that Kennedy, or Shriver, endorsed Obama because of his being black, for the import that portends for the history of the country. If you take issue with my being skeptical that this would be the reason either would lend their support to Obama, I'm sorry, but that's your problem. I've provided the only information I can find on the subject, so unless I see something elsewhere, I do what I always do, conclude on what information I do have.

As to the red-rep thing, yep, it blows, particularly when someone is gutless enough to do it anonymously. I don't get it often, but often enough. Firegirl is right in that it is about a childish thing as one can do. Forget it.

Thank you - on this, we can agree.:)

Yes, ALL CAPS showed my utter frustration. It's not that I want you to agree or back down; just say, "well, I didn't hear that exactly...". Which to a certain extent, you have done. It's just that it's been followed up with your bits of skepticism - which is somewhat hard to take because I heard what I wrote. It's not made up. I would never write something that is untrue.

However, I think we can both agree that neither of these ladies, who I admire as strong women of character, are supporting Obama SOLELY on the basis of his historical value to the United States (and the world). I was never saying that. I only said that ONE of them answered in that manner, as their FIRST choice of words, likely followed up by typical endoresment statements.

I seriously NEVER (not yelling here, just stressing it) meant to insinuate that either of these women are basing their endorsement on that one fact at all. I just felt it odd that these were the first words out of her mouth (and the mouth of Ms. Eisenhower, as well)...when they should have been a concluding thought.

Example of what should have been portrayed (in my opinion):
Question: "So, why have you chosen to support Obama?"
Answer: "Obama is the epitome of strength, integrity, and character. He is the strongest candidate for the Democratic ticket, but more so for the betterment of the United States of America...and, on top of all this, we have the opportunity to make history. How exciting!"

I just think anyone's answer to this question should never be started with, "we have the opportunity to re-write history...".

Understand, I am not trying to argue my point to make you AGREE, but just to make you UNDERSTAND.:)

I do have an open mind.

    Tara, respectfully, when I see:

I have a hard time separating this from:

I just didn't see these two paragraphs as living together. But it really doesn't matter. I do think we're in agreement, substantially, in agreeing none of these women would render their support on the basis of Obama's race, and its "history making potential," alone. Peace.

I certainly see your point. I wrote this with the knowledge (also thinking everyone else would understand) that the full basis of their endoresments have since been stated. At the time, this was the answer that was given, and per my memory, I don't recall much (if any) elaboration on that one point.

I did say, "When Caroline Kennedy came out in support of Obama a few months ago, she said she wanted to put him in office because it would "make history" by electing a black man into office. Not because he is the best guy for the job," thinking that it would be understood this was far before she began to publicly campaign for and endorse him. It was just a statement made in an interview that had nothing to do with the current campaign...it was a talking point in an interview, and it didn't last long.

    Peace.

I am talking about waiting lists for major surgeries and such. I am not saying our system is perfect, but it is a lot better than the socialized healthcare the Britain's have to deal with.

I happen to be in the health care industry (studying medicine currently) and having plenty of family and friends who are also doctors, psychologists and nurses here in the US and overseas in UK and other parts I can assure you that my facts are pretty straight.

Go into your local hospital tomorrow morning and try and get treatment for lung cancer and see if the doctors don't try and make you quit. Or guess what, they'll say they can't cause there is a damn long waiting list.

Never said it wasn't better than socialized, if you read the point behind my argument it was because someone said there was 'no waiting lines'

My mother was a nurse, my Aunt runs a chain of eldery care facilities complete with medical, etc for starters. I get to hear the health car talk more than on occasion ;) the same aunt is originally from Sri Lanka with relatives that come from the UK, Australia, Canada, etc. I've talked to all of them on issues regarding their perspective nations at one time or another. Since her line of work 'health' gets brought up often in such discussions.
Yes that's almost the same as the issue I had, ohyeah it's not.

More of your unsubstantiated, unsupported, anecdotal evidence? You could make a strong case with that, If we didn't already think you make up whatever lies you need to fabricate "evidence".

You also seem to have forgotten the point you were making. Either that or your realised the point you were making was incorrect, fatuous and untrue, And so decided to go off talking about something else. let me remind you what you said; "When they know at the end of the month they will be the one facing their health bill they might start putting more carrots on their plate than that lean steak." - Is this statement supported by the evidence? In other words, Do the americans put more carrots on their plate and the swedish put more steak? Or is it, as i suspect, That the americans stuff their faces with deep fried lard and the Europeans are the ones more likely to be eating steamed asparagus?

So to dumb this question down even further after the fourth time of asking it - Is your claim that socialised healthcare encourages people to eat un-healthy and non-socialised healthcare encourages people to eat healthily in any way supported by the evidence? Given the state of americans compared to, say, The Norweigans.
