Such huge campaigns against smokers, how about the extremely obese who are even more unhealthy than chain smokers?

Well yeah but every country has their share of smokers.

My guess is that obese people are a bigger burden on the health care system. (just a guess...I could be dead wrong)

StOx, Obama is the more "POPULAR", "ROCKSTAR", "COOL DUDE" choice for so-called average Americans. It's not McCain. So if you say we shouldn't vote for the guy we feel more warm and fuzzy about, you are in fact saying we should vote for the Republican ticket. It is kind of scary the way people in the United States are "flocking" to Obama. It reminds me of a cult to be honest.

Fact: he is handsome, smart, charasmatic, has a popular (with the American public) wife, perfect children, blah, blah, blah. Oprah LOVES him and most of Hollywood kisses his ass.

My honest prediction: Obama wins. Obama then becomes unpopular with the mainstream American voters who put him in office, as they will realize that his ideas about shaking hands and having lunch with the United States' worst enemies really DOESN'T WORK for world peace; and oops, he was also wrong about not having to raise taxes on the middle class; all of Hollywood forgets his name before he escapes the responsibility of the office he faught so hard to win.

He, in my opinion, is mostly HYPE.

Case in point: When Caroline Kennedy came out in support of Obama a few months ago, she said she wanted to put him in office because it would "make history" by electing a black man into office. Not because he is the best guy for the job.

Stupid Fact: I live in North Carolina, and when the primary elections were coming up in the spring, there was an Obama campaing running on our local radio stations. The first line of the radio ad was a woman saying, "HE'S SOOOO CUTE"!

We are all looking for change. Where will we find it?

I agree that for the most part Obama has ridden a wave of hype to where he is now. I still like him and think he will do a good job and will be a good symbolic(but I mean a symbolism that actually has potentially of being converted into something substantive) move for us. But let's face it, he's gotten to where he is so quickly because of his speaking ability, charisma, charm and his backstory, which includes his racial/national heritage.
The hype charge is a valid one IMO.

I would have agreed many months ago - I think I said something to the effect of his rock-star status - but not any more. I think he has defended a classic left-liberal perspective very well, with concrete policies that he intends on pursuing. One either think that's as whacked as the day is long, or that his basic premise - it's the way to an engine of recovery - is sound. I'm mixed, to be honest, and a lot of that has to be handed to the RP folks, to their credit.

My "hype" comment was to the comment made about the reason Caroline Kennedy gave her endorsement to Obama. To wit,

Is just not true, as I showed, given Kennedy's full address. The guy has been called everything in the book, as you know, and it's this kind of false statement that serves no one, in my opinion.

I think he's hyped and qualified. Because they're not mutually exclusive.

My neighbor is voting for Obama because he is biracial and likes Nascar.
I was like hey that is as valid as some reasons I have heard.

Homebiz I see you edited your post, this post was an apology admitting you were wrong and now it's "I do not think I was wrong"

Too bad I read the original.

You were wrong Homebiz, the 'US' is not just your little area of the US with your little experience of the medical situation of this great land.

Speaking of rep, thanks for the rep you gave me as well. ;)

Enjoy the rep I just gave you...

I was not apologizing and I am not wrong. You are completely wrong on how long it takes to get medical attention. L7

I love the Grand Canyon quote.

I was not apologizing . If you interpreted it that way you shouldn't have. I edited it to make it clear without it getting cherrypicked.

That's funny, since I only found out you 'edited' the post when someone else who read your 'apology' pm'd me to tell me you removed the apology and changed it to what you did.

Ahh yes, we believe the truth.

Homebiz you just keep showing yourself to have absolutely no class at all. To apologize, in the way you did, then to edit it out hours later, seriously pathetic.
