Homepage links on DP

I never understood why some people are scared to show their homepage link on this forum (any forum). I understand that some are selling links so that's one reason. BUT why other people don't show ?

More link, more visitors ... am i missing something ? What can possibly happen ?

 

I didn't know that people were afraid to show their homepage link. I can't imagine why.

 

I think coz people are afraid of google
Google might ban every outgoing link from DP

 

Ok so why do people sometimes write their liks like this

www[.]adfadfdasf[.]com

If its allowed to have a real like and its better for you to have a extra link. Whats the purpose for that [] ?

 

The sites are very profitable.
Maybe they want to make money in low tone.

 

I guess they might be afraid someone would copy their sites.

 

Im happy to put up the home page tis what it is all about,be proud of your site

 

dp might be unrelated to their content , so they might be fearing this

 

Homepage link, in the profile page? It is no follow so i don't think there is any google penalty anyway. Besides i see a lot of people have homepage link, can you give any example where you don't find homepage link

 

Some people prefer to maintain their privacy, and do not want other people to know it is their site.

Matter of individual choice, but the desire to keep it private is the main one.

 

Obviously so search engines don't find it and/or so the site doesn't find out about the link using logs.
