I don't buy them to sell them, but I sometimes develop sites on them. Websites on .info domains can earn as much money as any other TLD, unless you plan on making an Alexa top 100 site, then you might have problems.

.info are harder to have rank for traffic from google so you might have problems with this.

.info's are very good when it comes to proxy web sites, as you notice there are a lot of .info's in use for this

For a professional web site, or if you plan on establishing a large web site, never buy it in .info

Rule of thumb: If the .com is available, take it

As far as ranking in search engines is concerned .info is just another domain.

I have many .info's right on the first place on google.... Google never discriminates the site on the basis of tlds...

I own over 150 .infos and never had a problem to get them rank and get traffic from it... If the content is good it would get ranked...

That's not true. TLDs does not affect any SERP.

it does when it comes to .info, they are f'ing impossible to index sometimes. I had a .info blog that was a ghost for 6 months on Google. I got so fed up with it that I switched the site over to a .com, and it was up and indexed a couple days later.

As for the OP above, I really wouldn't bother unless it's a premium domain. .info's cost a lot when it comes to renewing, don't forget about that.

They are goood but if you are able to get some keyword rich domains.
and few of my .info websites are really doing good on google, so i dont see any problem with that as far as SEO terms are concerned.

ht tp://w ww.mydigitallife.info / .... look at such a big site. I don't think .infos are less worthy.

I believe in info names, but most of the people think they are worthless. People pay max $10 for info domains which has premium keywords in it. May be It's not a good idea to invest on them, but as I said in the couple of years everything could change

If it is for an IM niche - then don't get .info, there seems to be some prejudice about .info among internet marketers.

However, if your niche is outside IM then go for it. I doubt the average consumer will either notice or care about the domain extension - all they will care about is the content.

I think the are cheap because they are not used a lot ... but they are a very good option if you cant find what you are looking for in .com or .net

i have domains on .info but usually people tend to buy .com
i think .info is overlooked because it's 4 letters long

 When would you invest in them then - after they've gone up in value...?! If you think they'll go up in value, then surely now is exactly the time to invest, especially at $0.99!

Anyway, it's all about the keywords - of course we all prefer .com but which one is better: WebHosting.info or MySuperGreatOnlineWebsiteHostToday.com? (An extreme example, I know, but just to make a point!)
