I would like to be able to access my home computer from work. Both systems us windows XP.

What programs can I use to access both or one of the computers remotely?

Ideally i would like the program to be able to open a window from my work computer so I can run programs on my home computer remotely.

    Any suggestions would be helpful

    Thank you!

Well I just found out pretty simple to use no problems with firewalls or router port foirwarding the app in logmein.com.
I started using it yesterday what a coincidence! I always use VNC but for long connections (accross country) too much lag... this one is not as bad.
There is a freee ersion have a look.

    Enjoy!

Why not just use Windows own Remote Desktop. You will need to open a port on your firewall to forward port TCP 3389 to your desktop. Then you would simple open up the Remote Desktop Connection software at work to point to your home machine.

If you cannot find Remote Desktop Connection it is in Programs->Accesories->Communications (or simply type mstsc.exe from the RUN box).

RDP offers compression and 128bit security. We use it all the time to administer Windows machines.

Okay I've tried Teamviewer and its nice mainly because its free.

But, if the other computer is locked then you can not access it. Unlike other applications like VNC. Also it's not stealthy.

Still, I really can not complain because its free.
