Last week I made a thread as I was shocked to see that my bounce rate was 14% well now this week its decreased to 2.87% Has anyone got an explanation for this, because I don't? I ve started to use social media marketing more which should theoretically increase my bounce rate not decrease it. Search engine traffic has increased but not enough to do this. Has Google Analytics gone crazy? Or is my content that good
What's your site about? I have a gaming site with a bounce rate of 10%, but that's because people usually spend a lot of time on the site and enjoy playing games.. But 2.87%.. that's sick!
The website is an SEO Blog well now its more of a general Internet marketing blog (back-links.org) Yeah its been around 10-15% for about a month and its been slowly decreasing now its at 2.87% which seems crazy to me.
hi, well it must be something your doing for this to go down to that much, what have you done differently?
If you content was that good (which I assume hasn't changed) then you would not have had a high bounce rate in the first place. (Don't mean to be rude). So there is bound to be a different explanation to this effect. What about the traffic source?? Is is almost similar to what it was before. Try looking for things that have changed and you should find something that answers your question. The answer is there. You just gotta find it dude.
I am not sure what I have done differently the search engine traffic keeps increasing but nothing that would bring my bounce rate down from what was 60% to 2.8%. All I know that I have started doing is focusing on increasing traffic through social media marketing. Thats all. I'll have to have a long and hard think I dont think there is anything else I ve changed. I put excerpts of my articles on my home page and a link to continue reading but that was probably 3-4 months ago. I ll check back to 3-4 months ago and see if it started to decrease then.
I ve just checked and July bounce rate was 65% August was 65% September 14% October up to now 3% How strange.
I believe it is not necessarily something YOU have done recently, if at all. Maybe someone with a relevant site to yours has added source links to your site; do you offer any products? Maybe manufacturers of products you sell, distribute, or represent (even ones you write about) are linking to you. You are getting legitimate traffic from a reliable source. I would definitely check my traffic sources and visitor trending first...go from there if more investigation is required.
Yeah thanks Tara I have been checking all my referall traffic and search engine traffic and everything. I don't sell any products have no affiliates or anything.
Ok Willboy. How about segregating all traffic sources and seeing which of them have a really low bounce rate for the stipulated period. I assume that the bounce rate quoted is an average for the entire site, so while one particular traffic source may have a higher bounce rate the other may have a low bounce rate. This would bring down the effective/average bounce rate to the region you stated. Compare the bounce rate of each individual traffic source as to the previous months and see where the difference lies?
Good idea Kneo I ll have a look at that now Yes I am using Google Analytics for traffic statistics and thats what shows me this bounce rate.
Haha it seems the traffic with the highest bounce rate is my search engine traffic Referall traffic has a bounce rate of 1.17% and direct a bounce rate of 2.03% The search engine's bounce rate is so high because on my site I talk about proxy sites and give tutorials on proxy sites so I rank highly for some keywords which include proxy site keyword so I am guessing people go on by mistake thinking its a proxy site then go straight off.
Yeah hopefully I can. I am far from a top webmaster, but thanks I am going to write an article now on my experiences and try and figure out how I got a bounce rate of that. See if I can advise others on how to do it too. I'll just go through step by step what I ve done it obviously must of had some sort of effect. Very strange though By the way do you live in Manchester? If so good me too, just in london at the moment for University.
I ve just finished my article on how I think I might of done this if your interested read the article here http://www.back-links.org/Do-you-want-to-decrease-your-bounce-rate.php
