Virus on Windows XP

I don't know where to post this if there even is a place on these forums.

I have a virus called Possible_Vundo-5 and my anti-virus software (trend) has identified it and I know where it is. But I can't delete it because it is currently in use by an application. My anti-virus software won't delete it either. How do I delete it?

    Thanks

Did you try booting into safe mode and deleting it then?

    Try Vundofix.
Also, if its on, its likely that you will have other infections. Therefore download and install another good scanner, something like superantispyware free version.
Finally, do a last scan with your resident anti-virus and see what it finds.

Safe mode is the way to go for removing basically anything from your system, because processes aren't in use :)

Go for Safe Mode option, or simply Format your C drive before it infects others.
it can be a keylogger as well, which can be a Mess for u.

I wouldn't risk it trying to fix the thing. Just backup the files you need and do a clean install of windows. Probably the safest way.

I actually had some version of Vundo virus on one of my old PC's, I couldn't get rid of it - no matter what I did. I ended up having to reformat the hard drive and I suggest you do the same.

    Here's solution.

CREATE A NORTON BOOTDISK OR MCAAFE BOOTSCAN.
    THATS DOS BOOT SCAN.
    OR
    SIMPLE WAY

IF YOU WIN 98 BOOT CD THEN BOOT IT AND WHEN YOU ARE IN COMMAND PROMPT BROWSE THROUGH THE LOCATION WHERE VIRUS IS LOCATED.

    to get into folder-
    C:\cd [foldername]
    to delete file
    C:\del [filename]
    -------------------

I suggest that you create a mcaffe boot scan.It will also scan for possible viruses.

    Good Luck my Friensd ...
