Hello all, Shopping Sites - What you guys/gals think ? Can we make more money if we setup shopping sites? How many of you have shopping sites? What is your experience with that ? how do you market your shopping sites ? please share. thanks
Good luck with that one It really really really depends on the topic of the site, is it niche'd? Is it wide variety/departments? Is it sub niche'd? Is it affiliate or your own products? Is it saturated as all hell (most likely)? Is it a new twist that will make your users say screw the other place, I'm shopping with dpsubi1? These are a few things to consider on the way to deciding if it is worth your investment (time or money). Let's see what others say, Good luck!
Having a shopping site isn't a problem. Major challenge is marketing it. BTW you got a nice wordpress theme site. Posted the link on our forum.

Depends on your niche, and whether it's your own product or from a wholesaler/dropshipper, if it's the last one, yes you can make a lot of money from it but you'd need to market your site really well to start making good money from it (as it is with every site).
What about selling affiliate products ? (as mentioned by UnFunded) can we make more money from it ? is this field still good or is it already collapsed ?
I think it really depends on what all you are selling. If you can find something very specific, than it can serve as gold for you.
I used to run an x-cart shopping site and that was very successful project. Overall, I had good experience, but I don't want to deal with anything tangible now, and if I start selling products again, then I would go through the affiliate options only. When I was running my shopping cart I had affiliates, and I paid commissions for each sale and they didn't have to deal with warehouse problems, importing issues etc.
i run two shopping sites and the money all is well. Marketing is the problem of course. I enjoy running my own sites rather then Affiliate marketing because you get your money the same week. not months later . Plus if you can create your own product and get people to buy it, that is a major sense of acoomlishment!
You can not make much money of anything if you don't put the marketing into your sites. So it's also depends on other things and not just the niche.
Secret for whoever is currently making money on them. Most segmented niche marketers try to keep their highest money makers as secret as possible. The more competition, the less money they make.
