    Hello,

I read in this forum...that yahoo takes 5 working days to activate a YSM account. Is it true? Whats the current status of activating a account in YSM?

Immediately after payment my account was active, my campaign was active within 1 hr and keywords also approved immediately. I guess if your ad has some restricted keywords then it may take more time or if your payment method has some issues then also it may take more time.

My account was activated immediately, but my campaigns were not.

I was surprised that, unlike Google, my account was limited to one country. If you want to advertise in the UK and the USA/Canada, you have to have two accounts. Yahoo is quite limited and there are only a dozen countries supported, unlike Google, which supports 230+ and allows you to promote your ads in any or all of them.

Having set up a simple campaign, I found that the ad was not approved immediately. I waited a couple of hours, and still no approval. After 24 hours and still no ad running, I sent an e-mail. A couple of hours later, someone responded and said it was in the queue and would be looked at in a day or two.

I find that unacceptable. This was a simple ad for a 6-pack ab product, not porn, not anti-religious, not sexual in content, not promoting child abuse, and no animals were harmed.

It took a full 2 days until Yahoo approved the ad.

The click cost was higher than Google's... 36 cents compared to 17 cents for the keywords I chose.

There was a limit of 50 keywords.

I set up a second ad, and again, it took 2 days to get approval.

Meantime, I did not get the $100 advertising credit I was promised. So I phoned, and the girl said my account was marked as having the credit but it takes a few days to show up in the account.

I get the distinct impression that, while the rest of the Internet world runs on pumped up steroids, Google is powered by donkeys. Everything is slow, takes days.

    I cancelled my account.

    That was 18 months ago.

Recently, I signed up again, figuring things would probably have improved in 18 months.

Nope. Exactly the same experience. I cancelled again.

I can't believe that Microsoft offered $48 million for Yahoo... they must be out of their minds.

Thank you for sharing your ideas. I had terrible experience with Yahoo hosting. I was not sure about trying YSM as an alternative to adwords. But your post helped me a lot. I'm keeping away from Yahoo

    thanks,
