Political blogs are tough to extract earning from. I think most of the successful politico blogs are direct advertising supported. It sounds like you have some excellent traffic - sometimes it just takes time before that traffic begins to convert into Adsense revenue.
I see a lot of ad's for "http://iamblind.org/" I would block out that site. It's a big site that looks like it has nothing to do with polictics and could possibly be paying you cents a click. It is an image advertisement.
No doubt - that is one creepy site - what is it? Yeah, I would block that one for sure. I also noticed that many of your AdSense ads are way down the page. The sweet spot (at least to start - every site is different) is the upper left corner.
I suggest you try to increase your CTR. Try different ad units like, 336*280 or 250*250 etc, and put them in different ad placements. Try different combinations of ad units and ad placements to see which one gives you the best CTR.
This is normal with adsense, I would like to welcome you to the 50 cents club. LOL Political topics attracts readers who loves to reads rather than visitors who wants to click
As discussed earlier, it also depends alot on the placements of your ads.. Finding better placement can increase your CTR and income drastically!
