Google didn't release a free browser just for fun. There has to be a catch something and as a paranoid that I am, I predict it will be used to combat link selling And if it's open source, maybe they have some gyro-super-bumer-pumer algorithm that when we see the source, think it's ok, but in fact it's the weapon they'll use for link-sell war
The only reason i see is Search marketing.. They have great suggest feature when you type url - landing the whole world to google.com
Google release a free browser because nobody can sell a browser. When was the last time you paid for a browser? They released Chrome because they want more control over the way search is displayed and delivered. They released Chrome because they want to reach more people with their increasing portfolio of online apps such as GMail, Reader, Docs, etc. They want seamless interoperablity with Gears. They want to deliver a browser that properly delivers their products and makes them more compelling. Have you seen how fast Google Reader and GMail and others are through Chrome? They can leverage the real power of online apps through their lightning fast javascript implementation. Now there is virtually no lag when I move through feeds in Reader. When I click on a new message in GMail it loads instantly with all the images there because they can properly use GMail's prefetching capabilities. Whether they can track and combat link selling or not doesn't bother me. I'm not interested in shady SEO tactics. If you design and build your site correctly and use health SEO techniques, you should have nothing at all to worry about.
It seems strange to me that there is no PageRank display. I know, this is not so important now, but I would still like to see it. There is a Google toolbar for FireFox, but no plugin support for Chrome?!
On my laptop I can scroll down the page in Chrome using the mousepad - but it won't scroll up that way. Does this happen to anyone else?
i love chrome and use daily. i usually have this error 'your page has become unresponsive. do you want to wait or kill the page?' this is the matter of my pc or the matter of chrome or who?
Even I got the message, 'your page has become unresponsive. do you want to wait or kill the page?', but I would guess that's ought to happen, they must still be working on few kinks like that. Google Chrome sounds very promising. I was excited to see this new browser, gives a good competition to others, especially IE.
I get the page unresponsive error in Chrome at times as well, no idea what is causing it, probably a bug.
Chrome is really fast but I miss the autofill feature that is available in FF (and even IE). Whenever, there is a form to be filled i just double click on the field and text which i previously typed is displayed from which I select the one I want to use. However, chrome does not seem to have this feature. Further in the wordpress admin panel, for the version I use there are these "timestamp" "post slug" and other options listed on the right. I'm unable to use these in chrome since when I click the "+" symbol they do not open up. Hope these are fixed in the next version.
I have been using Chrome heavily (although not as primary) since the day it was released. I only ever saw that 'kill page' error once. However, today I have seen it so many times, at least 5 or 6. I wonder if a recent Chrome update has caused this.
