Ok... Soo i am thinking of starting a blog. Is this a good marketing idea for someone that owns a web hosting company? Will these bring customers to my business? What to blog about? Business or personal experiences?
Yep I think personal blogs always help business. You should look at ShoeMoneys blog I think he does a great job of mixing business and personal. If you establish a blog where people are following you then more than likely when they are looking for hosting they will ask you. I don't see a blog hurting at all and really their not hard to keep up with.
Yes - it is a great idea. Just make sure to devote the time needed to keep the blog active and make the information useful (rather than just a direct sales pitch for the company)
If you blog, then you will have two sources, your blog and your site, you have to promote, instead of just one. You just doubled your work. Whoops. In addition, most if not practically all Interent users do not go to blogs and message boards.
Blogging would be great to bring customers to your business indeed! You can blog about hosting, internet marketing and other business related subjects and about your personal experiences Don't forget to publish relevant content, to bring tips and tricks to share with your customers You can do some post planification: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=832825 The best way to drive customers to your web hosting company would be to use blog*.mywebhostingcompany.com URL * or news or whatever you want as a subdomain
I'm fed up of blogging. If you don't have much time and writing skills, shouldn't go for that. But if you are a great writer, you will make lots of money through blogging. So good luck.!
One good thing about blogging, especially if you own a service is they can get to know you and your personality a bit better which can help build trust for your business.
blogging is a great idea but you need unique content should update quite often so the reader has a reason to come back and read the blog
Well Generally speaking, If you blog about internet stuff, networking, etc; readers will just read about your advice and leave. If you blog about services, few people will read the blog as most go to rating services to decide on which host to get. If you blog about personally things, you are almost guaranteed to have no one buy hosting from you, as you are targeting the wrong audience. You must be carefully with these blog topics, but if it even brings in a few more customers, it's worth a shot.
Hi HVH, Where is your posting signature? Your missing out on link visitors. Blogging will help your site in proportion to your blog linking.
My advise for you is blog about thing you interested in. There is no use if you blog about thing you have no interest in.
I think before you start a blog you need to answer some questions first, I am currently writing an 11 part series on starting blogs whether you are ready for it and answering many other questions please take a look here http://www.back-links.org/11-things-to-consider-before-you-start-blogging.php
I think if done correctly you will win big with a blog. I personally would love to see blog topics like how to backup your files, how to move/transfer your files, what the heck all of the hosting terms mean, etc. When someone who's just learning the technology comes upon your blog they'll want to use your service if they can see that you are there to help them learn. *SmiLes* Suzanne
