I think you could live comfortably by yourself on that, when families and kids come into teh equation though you may find yourself in trouble!

I would live just a little bit more than comfortable with 10K a month. :)

in most places you could live very comfortable with 10,000 a month, especially if you're single, no kids, etc.

its funny though that in some parts of the world (like New York) 10K would barely get you by. lol

I was raised in Brooklyn. The rent for a BS apartment is at least $1,000. Average at about $1,200.

Edit: Even still I Love New York! :)

I would be VERY satisfied with 10K a month. It's a big amount, for us in India.

I feel it needs to be pointed out that some people would never be happy on any amount. Then there's the type that buy themselves as many "things" as their income allows and so they'll always be skint whatever. Fortunately I'm neither. The happiest and most satisfying time in my life was while I was at Uni (I stretched it to 7 years), folded paper or did contracts for marketing and sales organisations to add to my grant and student loans, walked everywhere to save money and lived on about £400 per week - that was for me plus another - with inflation it would be £600 per week (equiv $5200 per month now).

I'm earning about $2500 a month in USD and I'm surviving. $10k would be plenty for me.

I don't associate satisfaction with money only. There are many more important factors like faith, family, friends, health to name a few. Just be happy with yourself.
