I think the number of ads seem to overwhelmed the content itself. In fact, the whole page looks like it made for adsense only. Try to reduce down the number and add more content to it.
there's more to the site than the first page. we just changed our front page to wordpress so we're deciding what content we should put on the front page. any ideas?
I think this is right - even if you care only about monetization, you're likely better off having fewer ads and more useful on your homepage, and then trying to get clicks to other parts of your sites with more specific content and have more targets ads on those pages.
The header is a little to much. Try some contrast between the blue background and blue header. Also, instead of having the header buttons the same color as the header try a contrasting color. In my opinion I would go for a whole new template. The forum looks fine.
