I have a site which displays adsense on it but I only have about 300-500 visitors per day. I run another business offline and have around 55,000 clients / partners in my offline network. I am about to send an email to all 55,000 people requesting they visit my site and set up an account etc. This is going to send my adsense page views through the roof. Do I need to warn google that my traffic will increase. I dont want to get flagged as dodgy due to a massive increase. any ideas, or info on who / how to contact them.
Yes you need to call up google and let them know. Other webmasters have stories of going on radio shows to promote their website only to be banned. Also don't forget to notify your web host.
any other ideas rather than call, im in Australia for the next 2 months working on a new deal with a water distribution company.
What about doing it in stages rather than sending them all at once? Be careful that you don't get into trouble for spamming.
Im considering stages mainly for the ability to modify the offer to improve the response and I may have to go this route to avoid google penalties. Isnt going to be spam, these people all deal with one of my companies or the companies owned by my close friends, and so the emails will be from the host company to each client, and is likely to go out with their invoices at end of month.
In google adsense faq they say that you don't need to contact them if you believe your going to be having a significant increase in traffic. It's up to you.
Don't contact Google. If they got an E-mail every time that someone expected more traffic, they never could respond to E-mails - almost like is the case now.
That is a nice potential increase for you. But it's not massive. Pulling 10,000+ unique to a page in a single day isn't massive either. There are a whole lot of sites pulling more than 100,000 people a day.
You may not consider it spam, but the receiver may. You have to realize also that probably only a fraction of those will complete the offer.
Update, So I spanned out the emails over time, sending 20 emails then waiting 20 seconds and sending the next 20. So far its been 2 days and im half way around (40,000 sent) my ad impressions and clicks have gone through the roof and so far so good.
why do you need to contact google if you are promoting your blog? you are not encouraging them to click the ads. there is no problem to advertise your blog. just like you advertise your links in forums
How strict are the rules on spamming? From Google's point of view and from the law's point of view? For example I started an information website for students (http://www.unischolarships.com.au) and sent emails out to the careers advisers of every school in NSW. I found these emails on the school websites and personally wrote the email I sent, so does this count as spam?
why would you need to notify them? I had a 10,000 increase is one day, and it hasn't gone down. Nothing happened to me. Google doesn't care about traffic, they look at the CTR, Impressions, and earnings to determine if they ban or not. Not traffic.
Well mailing someone especially inviting him to visit your site is Vioalting TOS of google adsense. You could in a way put a signature Link in that e-mail The worrds such as visit my site, click here etc are Violations of TOS of adsense you have accepted and may result in closing of your account. The number 55,000 will act as a catalyst. I will suggest you to gor for as little as maximum 5000 a day without qouting the words mentioned earlier.
