I got dropped domain name that was a PR 6 but with the google updates went down t a zero. This domain still has great inbound links though, a few pr 7, 6 and 5. If i get some good content on this domain will I be able to get the pr back up again? thanks

It is essentially a new domain now. The older links won't count towards your PR or Google rankings.

I'm not sure if the older links will count, but I'd definitely get some content on this site and then start building your links again.

I have bought two dropped domains in the past, both PR5..
One of them dropped to PR2 on the next update and the other one kept it's page rank, however i have worked really hard on both of them.. link building, adding content etc..

So i think it's based on your luck and hard work, afterall dropped domains usually lose it's PR and value..
In my opinion all the old backlinks will simple be discounted from the PR calculation, I think?

I am still puzzled how techies as smart as Googles' could come up with such PR concept:confused: Have they over-smarted themselves?

I hope that you dont turn it into a "directory" like all these others here at DP do
just to sell PR links for 1-2 dollars just to say ive got a PR6 directory buy my links.

Dont worry about the domains "PR" rather worry about getting visitors to your site
and giving them what they want "content". Build the domains backlinks and in a few
months you will get the PR you deserve and not another's.

if the back links are from before the domain was dropped than I don't think they are taken into account, just keep building links and it might go back up

One my sites went its PR from 3 to 0. I was doing everything clean and according to Google rules. Now, I just want to forget anything about PR. Enough is enough.

Focus now on getting your serp on top which is more important, who knows you could gain PR by doing that. Work first on your contents.

This is true - even if you're new site is on the same domain, if Google sees the site change dramatically, you will usually see PR drop to 0

mind to show your domain, I doubt the backlinks of your domain vanished, check carefully rather than using seo tools.
