I mean I am hosted with a hosting company which doesn't have awstats in their cpanel I requested them to add it and they said they could look what they can do but my question is do they have to pay extra charges for awstats ?
You should not pay for awstats as it is a free script. Almost 99% of web hosts offer it free in the cpanel. if you are asked to pay for it, I would recommend you to look for an alternative host...
As AWStats is free software, they do not have to pay anything for the license. On the other hand, they are free to charge you some fee for the installation and the service, if they want to, and you are free to accept this fee or to move to another host or to use the service I offer in my signature. If your host charges for Awstats, they cheat you (Time to switch for a new host). Awstats is inbuilt with Cpanel, some host may disable it for security reasons.
it doesn't matter Awstats is installed or not, you can manually install it... or use a free alternative like webalizer.
sorry to hear that ur web hosting does not offer it.. is it *nix hosting or windows hosting?? there can be some sort of stats viewable options for ur hosting.. or, i would suggest to install google analytics.
Well if you want someone to do any custom configurations and to install awstats you should pay something, but this is not the costs for using the software, which comes with free license.
google analytics are great.. there are many remote stats systems you may consider goggling.. good luck
