I own a movie site.. And i am building my links by submitting articles to various Social Networking sites and I do get a few natural links as most of my articles are unique. I got PR 3 about an year ago and since then it has not changed. SERP ranking too has stagnated in the last 6 - 8 months. I need a boost now, I am posting about 2 - 3 articles regularly! Posting in Blogs and directories wouldnt help i guess.. As most blogs are nofollow and directories hardly have any value these days (If am not wrong) How do i increase PR and my SERP too? Would appreciate any help
For PR you need to get good backlinks. For that find out list of dofollow forums and blog list. Be an active member of those forum and start posting. Place your link into signature. With dofollow blogs find relevant blogs and submit genuine comments with link of your site. For traffic and SERP start doing Social bookmarking. Submit your site into social community sites.
PR can be improved with back links, SERP with content. Analyze your site (Analytics+Webmasters), check what people are looking for, what brings them to your site, do you have it, etc. Content is king!
Good and original content + backlinks = PR. If you want to increase the odds of getting a good PR after starting a site, update it frequently!

As all have stated... start building good and relevant links.... if you need more info on these search Google on "link building", you would find some good guides. Also make sure to subscribe to SEO blogs... there you will get more tips. One thing missing in back-link-advice is that you have to get relevant traffic to your site. Initially this would have to be done via PPC. When you get targeted visitors, they will naturally bookmark your site, recommend it to others, make links etc.

Dear Toocool you need to make more relevant backlinks for your site. Do Directory Submission, Articles, Classified, Relevant and Quality Link Exchange, Blogs, SMO and other activities.
Post quality articles in your own site and make the articles index by submitting a sitemap. Content is King... if you have Quality Content, backlinks doesn't matter!
Go for directory submission as much as you can go for.. but high page rank web directories only. Also buy some quality links for your website..
Hello, gonna made or what ? content has nothing to do with PR... think thrice before posting. What the @, Anchor Text of link can;t help in getting PR. You need to read lot about link building.
hi toocool just back link is not matter for movie website... movie is a subject that comes in entertainment... u just do one thing that submit each page in different social media sites. mostly use digg. if your sites like selling movies online than u must use title like "buy xyz movie dvd online" or "watch xyz movie online for free" because if you think like a normal visitor than he/she must try to find free stuff in this kind of entertainment... so you will get more visitors through social sites because they are coming on top with unique content.
