I don't think you will find an answer here as most seem to be affiliate marketers or just generally don't want to discuss. I can tell you the easiest and most common method, at least in media content circles. Advertising! You give away free products, in order to attract the largest possible number of visitors to the site and then sell advertising (or use some PPC system) I read a story of a 17 year old girl who created flowery themes for MySpace. She just did it for her friends and for free. Eventually she was getting hundreds of thousands of viewers on her site grabbing that content. Not long after, major advertisers where throwing pretty large dollar figures at her (or rather her agent) and she was able to do direct advertising sales rather go through a PPC system which pays only a small percentage of the revenue. That's not the only method, though. You can also use the free products to promote other goods and services, lead users into a membership service, relate it to premium content which is paid for etc.
Thank you for sharing. Giving free products is also a good way to get free traffic. However, if you give them quality content then they will follow your links.
#4 would definitely be the easiest way for someone to get some fast money, however slow/tedious the article writing process can be.
