Good god! I originally missed this portion of the Couric interviews. To Couric's very fundamental question, "Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 Billion helping middle class families who are struggling with healthcare, housing, gas and groceries - allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess? Palin gets deer in the headlight again, begins to utterly flounder, and stares down at the notes on her lap, to then concoct the most tortured jumble of nonsense coming out of any politician, anywhere, and I am dead serious - and that is saying something, living in Chicago, under the mayorship of Daley. I saw Fey's spoof, laughed my ass off; then, on seeing her "spoof" was a reflection of Palin's reality, I cried salt tears. COME ON: http://www.politico.com/blogs/michaelcalderone/0908/Cafferty_to_Blitzer_Dont_make_excuses_for_Palin.html?showall Cafferty is utterly right - "should McCain win, Palin will be one step away from the presidency, when the President would be an elderly man with a history of significant health problems; and if that doesn't scare the hell out of any American, it should." I've seen claptrap for weeks now, on this woman's qualification to be the nominee, and claptrap painting those of us who have from the start issued a tremendous concern over such a cipher being selected for the nomination, when so many others eminently more qualified stood ready. McCain's ploy to peel away Clinton voters and appease the extreme religious right of his own party by simply picking a show choir singer who happens to be a woman was about as facile as his ploy to slow the momentum by declaring a timeout on the campaign. Both have failed, miserably, at least so far, and I don't see things improving. John McCain should be ashamed. He should be ashamed for ruining his own credibility, for insulting women by this choice, for eschewing many more qualified candidates - many of them, women as well - in the hopes of scoring a victory, for dragging the national discourse down to the level of a high school homecoming, and he should be ashamed for holding a golden diadem before a woman who couldn't be more ill-suited to wear it. He has humiliated here, not the press, not the American public asking "what the hell was he thinking?" And she should leave the ticket - as many conservative commentators have now openly called for: http://article.nationalreview.com/print/?q=MDZiMDhjYTU1NmI5Y2MwZjg2MWNiMWMyYTUxZDkwNTE= Biz, and others like you, continue to put your head in the sand and chant that this is all a leftist conspiracy. Or wake up. This was a disastrous choice, as I've said from the beginning. Your party deserves better, and so does the country.
Homebiz, come on man. This is what really happened. There is no spin here. Can you actually watch McCain's campaign and think all is well, we are in good shape ? All he does is point blame and use scare tactics, "He's going to raise your taxes", "He wants big government"...he's just making stuff up for sensationalism. None of his commercials are about the issues, and his plan, they are all about scaring people away from Barack Obama using sound bytes and images that insinuate things that have already proven to not be true. Yet he still keeps saying them. His commercials are like something out of 1950's McCarthyism. Now in his latest commercial he is actually taking credit for the economic recovery plan ! "McCain and his liberal allies ......" While showing an image of documents with "Economic recovery plan 2008" !?! I mean come on ! It's not even a done deal, and he was there 1 day , and he doesn't have any liberal allies...even the unions won't support him, and the N.O.W have clearly supported Obama, they won't even support the woman ! Hey, no one was more embarrassed and pissed off than me when Slick willy got caught with his hand in a few g-strings, but at least I could admit to the utter stupidity of it all, and I love Clinton. If you are a conservative republican, you have to be a little pissed at what your campaign has become. Phrases like "tax and spend Liberals" are from the Regan era. It's almost like he is running the same commercials that Regan did. Don't the republicans ever have any new rhetoric ? How can this be the party of change when the campaign itself is from Nixon, and Regan. If you ask me, and I am old enough to remember, it is the same old Republican party...the only thing they have done new in the last 20 years, is post up a puppet woman who can nothing except sit back and take orders from the men about what to do, who to talk to, and what to say. I have always respected the republican party for posting up strong candidates, and I have many that I have liked over the years. You could at least get the feeling that if your candidate didn't win, at least we would still be in good shape because the other team is experienced and capable. No change.
Wow I'm watching the interview now and if that's the best our nation has to offer we are in huge trouble.

Nice change. You already got away with the Bush/Quayle thing once.
Unlike the "responsible" messages offered by elected Democrat legislators stumping for the other side: Scare Tactics? Talk about blatantly racist scare tactics. The GOP would have to endorse the KKK or suggest "Obama wants your pure white daughters" to reach that level of racist horse-shit. It's OK when DNC rallies votes by employing blatant racist scare tactics... but damn those McCain people for daring to suggest Obama will actually raise taxes. I also note that when you guys were praising the courageous members of the View you never mentioned the "scare tactic" where Whoopi asked if she needed to worry about a return to slavery. Was that a plank in the GOP platform *I* missed or a BS tactic you forgot to call out? Who's being dishonest with themselves? Where's your outrage against stupid scare tactics? Speak up and be heard, unless it is OK when your favorite side uses racism to get votes. So Pelosi Got GOP Housemembers to the Table? If anyone thinks McCain had nothing to do with getting this stupid bailout off high center (not sure I'd want credit personally)... bear in mind the holdouts were house Republicans and Bush had no currency with them. It is highly probable that if they come to the table it was McCain that did it... not speaker Pelosi. Last I heard she didnt have a lotta pull with 'em and she refused to pass this thing if the GOP didnt pull the trigger too. Integrity = Obama? Example 1 - I still find it astounding that a junior senator named Obama was one of the biggest recipients of funds from the assholes getting bailed out... wonder how he became the next in line for cash gifts right behind the senate banking chairman? Must've thought he was just a nice guy. Example 2 - Asking for a $1 million earmark for his wife's employer right after they tripled her pay is another one of the signs of integrity that leaves me speechless as to how you can support him. Example 3 - How 'bout the claim Obama repeatedly made early in the campaign that he'd bring all the soldiers home from Iraq in 2009. Heard that lately? Got him past the early primaries, now he stands on a totally different platform and acts like he never said that. Dude... it's on tape, many many many times. Fortunately your supporters have poor memories too... or maybe they're just similarly unconcerned about honesty. Example 4 - Yesterday Obama was out there comparing McCains efforts on the current bill to the way Republicans failed to respond to Katrina... and getting laugh lines by talking about the bridge to nowhere. As the article I pointed out shows... he voted against diverting the bridge to nowhere funds to the bridges destroyed by Katrina. He has his own rhetoric on his side... I have the Congressional Record on mine. If you want to stick your own heads in the sand it's your vote to make... but if you back Obama don't EVER call anyone else misinformed or deluded again. You forfeit the right by believing this charlatan.
Religion just sounds like a pointless pyramid scheme, like those things that kids do on MSN if you pass this into 10people something really special will happen to you. Never have worked out why people do it?
Anyone who thinks Sarah Palin is a reasonable choice for VP lacks judgment (that's the nicest way I can put it.) The idea that this ignorant bible beater could be a heartbeat (a very old heartbeat with serious medical problems) away from the Presidency is frightening. McCain would be a horrible President. He lacks judgment and he's reactionary. But Palin would be a whole other level of failure. She's simply way over her head.
ohh, did she beat you with a Bible? So sorry.... did it hurt much? Was it one of those soft ones or one of the hard backs?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BjaDyFAliI&feature=related does Mccain think she is ready or what? He does not let her answer the question.
Sarah Palin can't name a single newspaper she's ever read: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRkWebP2Q0Y Just... wow. WTF? Are you kidding me? More and more Sarah Palin reminds me of the boss from The Office.
She's scared to say the wrong answer. That is going to kill her in the debates, she is definitely gun shy right now for fear that the media will jump on everything she says and call her stupid. I wonder if Dan Quayle felt that way ? This just in. McCain's a prick! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdYJbFPYArM&feature=related
She should just let the answers fly. I was watching a town hall meeting with Obama and he was asked several questions and if he did not know the answers he would simple say "I don't know" and then he would add a funny line like"I will get back to you" or "they didn't teach me that in college." I think that will give her more respect.
She lets the answers fly. Sometimes, a jumbled assortment of nonsense from the notes on her lap, sometimes, "awesome," in the manner of a high schooler giddy after a hometown football victory, sometimes, "ireadallofem," respecting what news she sources, and so forth. The issue isn't that she doesn't answer questions, when asked (on the rare time's she's allowed off her leash, to see the light of day). The issue is that her answers are nothing, or worse. She knows nothing of what she should know for the position she has been asked to assume. She's a cipher, as I've been saying since her nomination, and McCain should be ashamed. And with a host of conservatives now joining a chorus of others calling for this cipher to withdraw her candidacy, perhaps its time for Sarah Palin to just leave.
