I've made it a policy to not believe everything Matt Cutts says, especially since Google went Public!
He says what Google wants webmasters to know. It's in Google's interest to promote the whitest of white-hat techniques, so I don't think he lies, but I'm sure there's a lot he misses out.
I don't read his blog or believe anything he says. He is just Google's puppet saying what they want him to say. I'm sure he gives useful information once in a while, but I couldn't be bothered to wade through the rest of his bs. Google is becoming a big money hungry machine. It is not in their best interests for Matt to give out too much info or to answer every question 100% accurately.
Although I rarely read his blog, I have learned that it it is very rare the times when anyone on the internet tells the whole truth; sometimes they might tell you half the truth but no-one tells the whole truth. Ismail
It's not that I don't believe what he says; it's that I know he's not saying everything. He simply cannot tell us all the information there is about Google and SEO. That information is as Top Secret as some government info, lol.
If we look at the events that followed, it seems that it's always true. That's why you can say that I believe in what he says.
I dont go by what the experts say. They would have been hired by that company to say so especially in Online world,Nothing is true unless you are really involved to check it out!
Well there's always the case that Google bosses might only tell him the things THEY want the webmasters to know. But yeah, I think the man is as honest as anyone in his shoes could be.
Yes, He is always Trying to Explain all the Details in Right Direction. and Matt cutts is the Senior and experience person in google, so he knows all the algorithms. i have seen many comments of Matt cutts and He is always trying to clear many queries of webmasters. Eric
Hmm i dont trust someone who is pushing so hard to sell a product book, service and so on... that said he is in a great position to hand out helpful info. Trust your mates no your work associates
Why would he lie? Of course he only reveals what he can or what Google wants him to leak, thats the same with any PR person or company spokesperson. Please read his About Me page where he has a disclaimer that he is speaking for himself and not on behalf of Google. I think he says what he can without overstepping the boundaries Google have set. That's good enough for me.
In a modern society, an element of lying is absolutely essential for maintaining peace and managing conflict. Sometimes one is faced with only two options: perpetrating lie A or perpetrating lie B. Only the naive or deluded would condemn anybody for not telling the truth 100% of the time. 100% honesty is an impractical idealistic fantasy. The chances are that Matt Cutts is probably no more, and no less, honest than the majority of people on the planet. Why would he be different from you or I? He probably does his best to do 'the right thing' like most of the rest of but, also like the rest of us, falls somewhat short of perfect. Is anybody on here perfect?
