Seo & Clickbank

As I am promoting Clickbank product using this method, that's why this thread is here.

I'm really confused with this link building stuff. Basically I got a blog, which is targeted to a specific keyword, and I am trying to get a top spot in Google for that term.

On the first day, when the blog was created, I ranked #3 on the same day just by posting few introduction posts.

After that I started building backlinks. So here's the problem part.

What I did was posting one article to many different web 2.0 sites, like Squidoo, Hubpages, Ezine, etc.

On the next day after this promotion, my blog dropped to like 6-7 position.

    1. The first question is: WHY THAT HAPPENED?

Ok, that's fine. I thought, if I keep building backlinks, then I would climb back again, but NO WAY. Today, I am checking my position in Google, and I am not even in top 10 pages.

    2. The second question is: what should I do now, to bring the blog back?

Let's keep it short, because right now I really want to know the answers to those specific questions.

Rankings is the search engines can be very erratic for new websites. This is most likely what the problem is. As your website becomes more established with more links and traffic, the rankings will become more consistent.

I would say keep building incoming links with your chosen keyword phrase and start deep linking your blog as well. If all of your incoming links point to your home page it can look suspicious to the search engines because that is unnatural. A natural link building campaign would involve gaining incoming links to multiple pages on your website instead of just your home page. I have been deep linking for a while now and its very effective, especially for blogs.

I'm not a SEO expert, but I think it's normal to rank high for not very competitive keywords for new posts. Google gives them a short period in which they stay on top, and then they rank down.

Commenting on other blogs in your niche is a great way to to gain backlinks, but its also great for deep linking. When you are browsing other blogs and you see a post that is related to some content on your own blog, its the perfect opportunity for deep linking. All you have to do is leave a comment, but instead of using the link for your home page, use a link for a specific post on your blog that relates to the post you are commenting on.

So not only do you gain incoming links to multiple pages on your website, you will also get some free traffic because when people read the post and see your comment they will be more likely to visit your blog and read your content if its closely related. Hope that helps...

your page is now where it's supposed to be. keep getting backlinks and it will start climbing up once backlinks get indexed.

what you saw on your first day is normal. new websites often rank very high for a day or so until google works out where you page belongs to in serps. so don't get to excited about it next time and you won't be so disappointed when it drops :)

That's probably the answer to all my questions.

I will keep building backlinks, and I am pretty sure, I will come back :)

    Thanks. That clears things up.

Ewen Chia does not work for Google so he has no clue what Duplicate Content is.....

Here is the straight story on how Google views Dupe Content

    http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/09/demystifying-duplicate-content-penalty.html

Your site did well as most everyone knows Google leans on new links to boost sites rankings temporarily.... since news needs to come to the top during emergencies.

Once Google scores the links (as occurred last week) most new sites are given a filter, and then drop in SERPs, till they build trust over time.

Ewen Chia and seo eh?????

Why would you need to read a pdf to know what duplicate content is? It's pretty self explanatory isn't it?

Well, some people understand it wrong.

If I got an article on my website, and you got the same article on your website, that's not duplicate content.

Yeah, he's not a Google employee, because he earns 10x more than he would , if he was working for them ;)

I think he's been involved in Internet marketing for pretty long time, so he knows what he's talking about. Also his information is similar to what Google says.

    LOL!!!!!!!!

Ask Joel Comm or Mike Filisame perhaps.....

Google spells it out yet people want to site people with a mailing list.

(and they think Googlers aren't millionaires too?? )
