i wanted to know how the domain value is decided to sell it.
Does it depend on the domain words or some other factors ...

The extension of the domain will add some value.. but then again if a buyer wants a domain bad enough the extension wont matter to them.

In regards to the length of the domain this is what im referring to..

SEX.com is more valuable then BESTSEX.com (as an example) The shorter your domain name is the easier it is to remember and so on.

    There is a difference
    -new domains
    -existing domains
new domains cost what u pay for
existing....well ,here is a big difference
-low letters domain /because of direct traffic, but not so important/
    -age / very important i think/
-is the domain listed in directory /dmoz,yahoo/
    -traffic
    -indexed page in search engines
    -backlinks
    -was the domain dropped
    -PR
    all in all ,thats it

Shorter domains aren't always valuable. I would take Mesothelioma.com over BFDSSD.com anyday. Another example? Investments.com or MBES.com anyday.

There are several IMPORTANT factors that take place when assessing the value of a domain name:

    1) How valuable the KEYWORD is.
    2) Natural traffic to the domain--generic domains get natural traffic. People somehow naturally go to Cars.com if they want cars.
    3) Previous sales with the same keyword
    4) The TLD. .COM/.NET is "the most" familiar.
    5) How marketable the domain is--Cars.com VS BuyCars.com... Cars.com is more marketable. BUT BuyCars.com is more marketable than something such as FindingCarsToBuy.com.

There can be other things that you can use to place a $$$ value on a domain, but those are pretty much the basics and most important factors (It's 4:48AM... so I'm hoping I didn't forget anything important).

    To answer your question in the original post first, I own a site that offers certified domain appraisals and we take into account many factors when evaluating domain value including;

    Domain Age and Extension
    Past Development
    Archive Results
    Developed Links
Search Engine Results (Google, Yahoo, MSN)
    Anchor Text Results
    Title Results
    URL Results
    PageRank
    Traffic Rankings
    Past and Current Traffic Stats
    Possible End Users
    Paid Ads in Results
    Projected PPC Bid
    Projected PPC Income
    Overture Results
Type-In Amounts and several other factors

    - There are hundreds of places to sell and market your domain names, I would recommend this and other domain name forums and domain name marketplaces. You can also feel free to check out my site DomainApple.com where it is free to signup and list your domain names for sale.

    - As far as the transfer goes, it depends on where it is registered and if you want to push the domain (keep it where it is registered, but transfer to another user) or transfer the domain name between domain name registrars. I hope this info helps, let me know if you have any further questions. ;)
