    Hi,
We have had another bomb blast in India today. On top of this, 17 live bombs have been recovered so far. I want you guys to answer just one God damn question- Is all this happening because of Religion or because of Politics?.. and I have capitalized both Religion and Politics, because in today's context, they have become far bigger than any human being and any name in the world
    Regards,
    Jeewant

Just like the title of this forum: Politics & Religion.

Nothing good comes from mixing them.

For some cultures, politics and religion are the same thing, and that makes things much worse than they could be.

I think the politicians are ruining the country.
Whenever such a thing happens, the opposition is the first one to pounce upon the opportunity to criticise the functioning of the present government. Politicians are never perturbed by the blasts, etc. All they seek is some sensitive issue, important to the common man, and make most out of it.

As far as terrorists are concerned, they should rot in you know where.
No, its not "jihad" anymore. You don't kill thousands of innocents for "liberation" and "freedom".
All they want is money and attention.
Sadly, they manage to get both by blasting our countries whether India, or US, or anywhere around the globe.

I think its the politics of religion. People fighting for preserving their faith, not by following faith but by betraying it altogether.

Politics gives them the reason and religion gives them the justification.

Very rightly put. But rather than religion "giving" them the justification, its their "interpretation"
No religion ever would permit anyone to kill fellow beings...

I'm not sure how the koran handles it, i've heard people quote certain scriptures from it. As a Christian, I feel like I should at least point out that the Old Testament is considered the "old law". Things like "an eye for an eye" was the way of life and God's wrath at that point. The day that Jesus died on the cross changed everything. stox, I know you don't agree with christianity or anything in the bible, I'm just pointing out why it is not okay to murder and be a christian. :)

I'm not too sure about that..

However, if that were the case, it would not have been deemed as "holy book"

I'm not a scholar, but every religion is there to take mankind towards the devine path.. it is those who misunderstand it(intentionally/unintentionally), are the misguided one's.

I disagree. The Tanakh and the Quran are the most peacefully books there are.

It is just your interpretation of certain verses that are invalid that makes you think so.

You have to understand the reasoning the verse/story was put down and to whom it was commanding.

    Peace,

For a thorough discussion on this refer to this thread. The OP, a devout Muslim did a great job and removed some misconceptions (that the Koran is a peaceful book, for example)

Sorry but it's the ones who don't kill who are the ones misunderstanding it.

The religious "fanatics" who go around killing people, smashing in women's heads with rocks like a bunch of primitive savages, the one mutilating their child's genitals and the ones discriminating based on sexual preference are the one who are following their religion correctly. They are the ones doing what their religion tells them to do.

Don't take my word for it, go read the books, They are some of the most repulsive pieces of fiction ever written.

I did read the thread and participated in it and see nothing wrong. Beside some differences on social aspects of life.

    Peace,
