PR has no purpose but to confuse the user when evaluating a page ranking , yet Google will keep on using this lousy algorithm for a long time to come. If you ask me and most webmasters, Google PR should be ditched in favour for a ranking method only visible to Google techies. Will an e-petition help convince Google do that?
Actual PR is only known to Google, and is the ONLY PR that counts. Toolbar PR is useless...so petition against toolbar PR if you want, I'd rather just ignore it myself.
I doubt any kind of petition would change Google's plans. They don't want to get rid of the toolbar PR as it's an extra branding strategy. When people talk about a website's strength, people mention a Google trademark. Why would they want to stop people from talking about Google so much?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Google isn't going to get rid of Page Rank and I don't suspect that e-petitions will do much of anything at all.
Why in the world would Google listen to frustrated webmasters asking them to abolish PR? PageRank is their patented technology, which they use for their purposes, not ours. Google is not running a popularity contest for webmasters. They answer only to their stockholders.
But on the toolbar is the place where most people see it. If its removed from there it really does have no value.
yeah. I don't think Google would listen to just a portion of webmasters. Maybe it can be true if most of webmasters turn against to it.
Possibly, but I think that even the majority of webmasters would make up just a tiny fraction of Google's total surfing customers. I doubt that Google would listen, nor can I see any reason why they should. PR is part of their ranking system and is published merely as information for us.
Unless you had a revolutionary uprising Google won't take notice. I don't really know of any problems with the Google PR rankings. If you want to go against Google why not send Alexa a petition and every other ranking method on the web... They're all pretty irrelevant.
Perhaps in politics, where incumbents are desperate to please the voters and hold onto their elected positions.
I agree 100% with quote above. . Please note, PR is just one of the tools Google uses for search results. Your goal should not be high PR but traffic on your site. To achieve this you need good SERP and for this you need content. Content is king. I would only support an e-petition to get rid of web spam.
Remove the Google toolbar from your browser. Or just disable the PageRank feature in it. Vote with your feet, but an e-petition would just collect everybody's email addresses for spammers, don't do it I tell ya! lol
