I just setup a new blog on my site at www.blog.hotbuckles.com How do I promote a blog and make it a place thats most people want to be a part of?
If you're asking yourself that question you're gonna have a lot of trouble. Blog's generally do well exclusively because of the content that is posted on them, in the blog world its less about promotion and more about having fantastic content. Once you have an idea that makes you go 'wow' and it makes plenty of others say the same, you know you've hit the spot. I know it's easier said than done and I wish you the best of luck.
I am an OK business man but not a great writer so i am trying to surrond myself with people that will help with that... If you know anyone that would like to be a part and throw some links to his own site with it let me know.
Nir, you are missing the plot here. I have replied to you in the other thread. Starting a blog and posting the kind of posts that you have made will NOT help you and I think you are wasting your time. Also starting a blog in subdomain is also not a very smart idea, infact just drop this whole blog thing for a moment if you are thinking that blog will make your site do some amazing thing in just matter of weeks. if you are serious about it, then that's a different question and I will say go with it (in a subdirectory rather than in a subdomain) For linking and traffic, I had written SEO Tips a long time back, you may like to read them. Pushkar, Thanks for advice. Why is subdomain different than subdirectory? And yes I am serious about everything that I do and don't expect the blog to yield results for the coming months, just a part of the general scheme of things...
Well though now people say that search engines treats subdomain just like subdirectory of the site, I don't this its totally true. You have an established site so put a /blog/ and then start adding content into blog so the pages will be part of the main site. Blog is a good thing IMO but make sure it don't reduce your site value.
its all about quality backlinks. only a few backlinks in a day are sufficient. i manage to up my PR from 2 to 3 by doing so. i am comfortable with it considering my competitors(with same niche) in my country are all PR=2 only
join blogging groups, submit your blog to blog directories, post on some high PR'd blogs of your niche.That will surely help you a lot.
