I have had issues with my hosting for its mediocre service. I have been desparately trying to get the auth code for my domain name to shift out of these guys and they are not giving me that. Isn’t this abuse of others domain? When questioned, they say their systems are under maintenance and I need to wait. Its been under maintenance for almost 6 months now. My domain name is about to expire next month and I have no clue as to what I am going to do to retrieve it. Please help. If anyone has any idea as to what could be done with this regard (legally or otherwise) Thanks
Check who your hosting company is getting your domain from. Write a complaint to the abuse dept of the registrar. Your hosting company has to release the auth code. Better make it fast, domain transfers takes time and yours doesn't seem to have much time.
You can sue them, but you can sue anyone you want for just about anything, it's just a question of whether or not you will win. Unless there is a large amount of money at stake (sounds like there isn't) suing them probably is a waste of time and money.
you'll have to go through ICANN, which will be a hassle but will eventually work. Sorry for the frustration.
thats a matter of opinion...I was in a car accident once, I was in a lot of damn pain. I called an attorney, talked to him, and he said i was faking and would not return my calls...what you think is a lawsuit, an attorney may think otherwise, because he is thinking objectively...and since he had seen that I did not actually loose any body parts, then to him, there was no money in it, and it would have been a waste of his time. so to those that say they rewrote someones articles, or some hosting company is locking up my domain, or some other type of internet BS, you are just wasting your time even posting here. If a common sense attorney did take your case, it would only be to rape you dry of any money you do have, and if by some change in hell on earth you did win, then try to collect the small amount you got...Look at O.J. look how much the other party won..and the only thing they could collect was from a book "If I did it" a lawsuit is nothing more then what is on a piece of paper, collecting your win is a complete different ball game.
If you pay a lawyer enough cash upfront they will take any case. You can sue people for incredibly minor things in the US (dry cleaner stained my jeans). It probably won't be worth it as you said but it is still within the law.
