biggest problem with godaddy is that they will shut down your domain first and than ask questions. That happens even if someone sends a fake spam or dmca claim. If you are serious about online business and depend on the money you make online I sugest dynadot.

I guess I am just used to GoDaddy's user interface whereas NameCheap's Interface seems too cluttered for me. The only thing nice that NameCheap has to offer is the privacy feature which I believe is free. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. As for the transfers well no matter what I found that it does not matter who you go with you will be charged one way or another. My issue with all of these registrars is the amount of difficulty to transfer out to another registrar (NameCheap -> GoDaddy ... just an example so I am not favoring one side)

GoDaddy registration process is cumbersome ... they need to review and rethink their upselling techniques.

I had someone refuse to buy a domain from me because it was at Godaddy.

If you don't like Godaddy that is fine. They are low cost and make mistakes.
But overall I now feel Godaddy is a fine registrar. I've never had Godaddy cause
any trouble for me. They have great customer support!

I hate the godaddy girls ....
I hate there ceo pic(looks like a true jerk) just in middle of control panel

Still I use them for 1$info domains and for domains I buy from others.

Godaddy is reliable (honestly, they probably will never go out of business). Like everyone else said, their pushy sales pitch pages are annoying when you want to quickly purchase a domain name...which you can't do, since you have to rush through 4 pages of crap...also, they really do nothing for their customers. You don't get free domain privacy for a year, actually you don't get anything for free. All you get are coupon codes that you can use at checkout, but you have to hunt them down on the 'net yourself of course.

I'm not sure if Namecheap does this, but Godaddy will physically call you once a year. I always had a suspicion that they did it to make sure you put the correct phone number down under your public domain name info, and if you put a false number, that's probably where your domain gets forefitted...so beware of that.

See I think GoDaddy rocks; boss comes accross as a jerk, ad's every where, way too many "GoDaddy Boots" (/girls) but when it comes to domains they're great; instant reg, instant push, free email, great dns service, everything right there to manage with full control; great pricing when you're a discount club member, and an all round amazing level of service when you have an account exec; they'll go to the ends of the earth and back for you (well mine will) - even reg's my domains and pushes them for me (when I ask) - oh and free privacy + lot's of nice tools.

surely a better business plan than selling domains at $5.99 (a loss concidering they need to pay verisign over $6 - can't be good)

Godaddy doesn't misrepresent themselves. Who cares about pushiness. I care about quality of customer service, and they art tops.

Who misrepresents themselves. Well I think it is obvious that companies like buydomains and other companies like this are the ones we can do without. Saying your going to buy domains is so broad and when you waste your time with them and get $1 offer it is ridiculous. You can run and have any business model you want. I want everyone out there to know to avoid you at all costs.

When I compare the two types of companies, Godaddy is king.

Agreed on the godaddy as I said above..

however BuyDomains! - I sell circa 1000 domains a month to buy domains; there service is perfect; they are prompt mannerly and fair - if you want a quick sale small profit sale there's nobody better; if you want reseller or end user price look else where (less it's a true premium domain).

To me; BuyDomains/NameMedia is the best company going by miles; godaddy+buydomains=my living - I'd be skint and lost without either. ps: I HIGHLY recommend dealing with ted @ buydomains - the guy is king of domains and really knows his stuff, mannerly and v professional. (for every 1 domain I sell on a forum, I sell 150+ to buydomains)

cheers :) I believe I have - been lost this week while they've been at traffic - the model is the same as anywhere; 100x$2 profit = better than 1x$200

I use name.com and always have. I just don't like the whole Godaddy layout and website very much, and the domain admin panel is really weird too. I like name.com simple and efficent.
